I like this page! It’s weird to think that John Wilkes Booth was buried there.

I’ve been thinking of making more topical pages about things and places I’ve visited too.

I was looking for old character art references for my current writing partner, and found a bunch of old writing I’d done during the lockdowns- So I put it all together on a page.

During the second wave of the Covid-19 lockdowns, I wrote a series of weekly shorts featuring some of my characters- researchers trapped in a strange magical-surrealist institute, to help me regiment my time and give me a creative outlet.

I wrote wildly while locked up in a tiny apartment downtown, in the heart of a city burning through like wildfire with disease and death.

These are those drabbles, spanning from September 2020 through to March 2021 in chronological order.

I’ve preserved them out of an desire to see how my writing has since developed, by way of contrast- and as a personally interesting relic of the time.

I FINALLY added a button for my site as well as a button wall. Way overdue…

Got around to building a Splash page for the website! I am trying to get some codes tinkered with and maybe seeing if there’s a way to get it to where the footer is at the bottom. I still haven’t got an image created to where the user clicks on it to enter.

I also have had the rating critter saved for PG, but I’m thinking on bumping the rating to a PG-13 for mild language used for a blinkie that I would use somewhere…

It’s technically not my website, but I created and deployed Treeeee on a subdomain. It’s an experimental social site (not social media) based on nodes. Everyone can create a sub-node on every node, and there is no indication who created it.

What makes it really special, is that you can select a node to be executed on page load (ā€œnominateā€ a node). I’ve already built a few nodes, for example to change the background color. There is no way to ā€œnominateā€ multiple nodes, but it would be possible to create a node that loads and executes other nodes.

If you want to try it out, you can go to /register and use the invite code 32BIT_CAFE. In case you forget your password, you should reply with your 32-bit-cafe-username to #3 (node 3). I’m excited to see what you may build. :)

I added an Art section to my website and updated my gallery template to accomodate this. I’ve added three galleries for:

  • My digital illustrations
  • My pencil drawings
  • My fineliner ink drawings

I need to go back and add the correct dates and descriptions, but i’m happy with how it looks.

I also simplified my website background as I got sick of the wood effect. I realise I need to update my og:image though (looking at a generator I can use to automate this)

melvian.xyz has been officially retired in favor of melvian.net.

Nice choice, I love a .net

Did you change hosting, or just your domain name?

No change in hosting; in fact, all my sites run on the same VPS. I have all my domains on Porkbun (current, active ones) and Namecheap (former registrar, only domains on there now are set to expire) and they all point to that VPS.

I added a guestbook! I was talking about how I wanted one but didn’t have one, and then I realized I was sitting in front of my computer and I could just go make one haha.

I have a similar setup. I also use Porkbun, and pretty much all of my sites are self-hosted on my Synology NAS.

I just checked out your site and signed your guestbook. I love that guestbooks are getting more popular again!

I love how fun and colorful your site is! I want to join more web cliques and webrings.

Aw, thank you so much! And oh gosh. pixel cliques are one of my favorite things about having a personal website.

finally done…!! my textbook cover art gallery is online! 450(ish) covers, 75(ish) rooms, a quiz, and a small how-to for saving images from books on the internet archive. i’m using infinityfree instead of neocities for this one! feels weird to try out a new host setup.

i have more covers saved to add, and i want to go through and add links between pages for covers with similar images or motifs, but it is Done Enough for now! :tada: i’m quite happy with it and also happy to work on something else for a while hahahaha.

This is so cool! I’m also quite amused that there’s really a textbook about tubes. I’d assumed ā€œtubesā€ was a joke option. :)

Edited to add: the 8th Edition of the Hodges Harbrace Handbook has a very groovy cover, if reference books commonly used by students count as textbooks.
