šŸš§ What did you do to your website today?

I got my website online! Figured out a manual GitLab pipeline to deploy to Netlify and everything.

Itā€™s extremely basic, but Iā€™ve got a page of bookmarks, about page, and a blog post. Next on my list is to figure out dates and RSS feeds in Eleventy.

I finally added a sitemap to my site. It isā€¦much longer than I expected. :scream_cat:

@cobycat I LOVE those buttons in the menu! And the whole design, really, but those buttons are very yummy!

I love this! Phylogenetic trees are great, and this is such a fun reason to make one.

The perfect chalkboard green.

@eladnarra thank you! iā€™m always forgetting which vegetables/herbs/etc are related and it felt like the perfect opportunity for a little web project.

@Manatee whoa, youā€™re right! the resemblance to a chalkboard wasnā€™t intentional, but now i canā€™t unsee it. my subconscious must have been drawn to that specific greenā€¦

@cobycat That looks so perfectly of the period youā€™re going for, itā€™s great.

I spent a chunk of today making my Character Reference match the rest of my site and link to the updated gallery instead of having manual thumbnails.

working on my shrine collection! still debating on what to call it, but want a space to organize a space to talk about my interests and personal subjects outside of the standard museum part of my website. ā€œshrineā€ may not be the right word when talking about my partner, for instance :joy:

still figuring out the colors and how i want the fonts sized but at least thereā€™s progress!

I am redesigning a bit my site, and I am playing around with an idea for the menu on mobile, using an anchor link to go to the footer where all links are found, instead of creating a real menu. I think it works well, but iā€™m not ready to deploy the new design yet (it doesnā€™t differ too much from the old one too)

I updated my links page! links!

Itā€™s now neatly split up and just generally looks better. And I finally grabbed the buttons from some of my friends pages :D

Started working on my Comics page that has been empty for 4 years nowā€¦

Once Iā€™ve logged all my collected issues Iā€™m going to figure out how to sort and display the data as a grid of 500+ issues wonā€™t be fun for anyone.

Are you doing this manually? It sounds like a ton of work!

Hell no, no time for that :stuck_out_tongue:

Adding series, and/or issues to League Of Comic Geeks.

They do not offer an API or a way of exporting your data so found this Node module, comicgeeks that can fetch my collection.

Then use eleventy-fetch to save the data to my local cache and have the data available to use during build time.

For the MVP Iā€™ll create a grid of covers for each series I have comics from that link to the series collection page on League Of Comic Geeks.

That will allow me to get this out the door while I continue adding my collection and figure out how to paginate the individual issue data so that I can have a page per series that has an image grid of each issue I own from that series.

Iā€™ll make a feature request to the comicgeeks module to expose a few extra data points around date etc so I can sort by date.

The MVP is live, check it out: Comics

today I made my /now/ page into multiple pages underneath a collection (iā€™m using jekyll; i donā€™t remember if that terminology extends to other SSGs).

as such, thereā€™s an archive to previous ā€œnowsā€. i thought it might be cool to look back on some time in the future. now archive Ā» saturn.town

keeping previous now pages is such a neat idea! I think Iā€™m going to steal that

I added a wiki page about The Sims series to my site  Well, about the mainline series games, anyway. Iā€™m sure thereā€™s more I could add, but for the first version of the page I focused on my own experiences and memories of the games.
