Yesterday, but I added a Now page, and update my 404 page to thematically match the website.
last night, i started a new layout, which i further refined to a publishable state and put up this morning. i wanted to go with something a little earth-tonesy and more muted than the previous look - more town, less city.
i chose a new font - Georgia - to act as display, while bumping the size of the body, still in Verdana.
it also respects dark-mode preference, and is much more mobile-friendly (only one breakpoint at 1000px)
thanks to the coworkers on discord for keeping me focused!
Redid my blogpage and I like it so far.
Itās a bit basic but itās the farthest Iāve got done. Might make it 2 per row instead of 1 but not sure.
But one things for certain is that I really think the mobile version looks goood.
Iām probably going to add an image or 2 to liven the page up. I also added this effect for on the nav links. (applies both to hovering over it and focusing on it)
I haventā pushed the update yet but Iāll let everyone know when I do!
finished my website redesign!! ough yeah!!!

love seeing all the springtime redesigns! theyāre SO good!!! keep it up, yāall! :)
I added a Projects page to link to miscellaneous stuff that didnāt have anywhere else to go. Probably should have done that a while ago.
I updated my Strike Engine site to not only clean up the Cards section of my Strike Engine minisite, but also gave the half-deck cards a makeover! I also added in a new half-deck in case you want to play a fire-based deck.
I did a bunch! Most of it was behind the scenes, but the changelog entry goes over them. On the content side, I wrote another blog post and added a bunch of Minecraft YouTubers to my Bookmarks page!
Iām pleased to have an RSS feed now, but annoyingly Iām getting a timezone/off-by-one error. Not sure I understand why since Iām using the Eleventy RSS plugin (surely they account for thatā¦?). Guess thatās something to figure out soonā¦ I also really want to configure a plugin to automatically make a contents section, and to add id
s to my headings. Thatās really annoying to do manually!
Yesterday I added an updated RSS feed to my blog page, fixed some semantics issues, updated my now page, joined a webringā¦ the changelog is here, im really happy to finally get back into it after what feels like ages of not doin much
iāve been trying to think of ways i can give resources while on limited bandwidth and came up with sharing color palettes iāve generated on coolors.co! naming them was super fun :) but i hope it inspires others or that i see them around somewhere! iād love to use them for various projects sometime. maybe layouts in the future :)
Iāve begun building out a sort of link-list project, inspired by search engines of yestercentury. The project is titled āthe AlteredVistaā, a play on the AltaVista search engine.
Still monkeying with the layout but the prototype can be viewed here. Note that itās best viewed on desktop at 1920 x 1080 resolution.
I wanted to wait until I got everything in order, but I decided to just release things slowly as a live update before I went insane. Complete rehaul of my index page, most navigation links are now their own webpages instead of using the iframe system. Added new artworks and also made some changes to my blog. A whole lot more minor changes in other webpages that I donāt want to get into.
I changed the colour scheme of my main site to green and revamped my thoughts page, which acts as my blog. I also added a now page because why not
Next thing on the to-do list is to add my art to my site, but Iāll have compress them all so they donāt take up a lot of storage space. I might add additional graphics to the layout to further jazz things up tooā¦other than that Iām happy with the progress Iāve made so far!
I am keen to see how this develops. Iād love for you to think about how it can be viewed outside of a 1080p desktop before you go too deep
Playing around with my /now/ page.
Wanting to show currently reading
and just finished reading
books.
If Iām not currently reading a book itāll just show some text saying Iām not reading a book right nowā¦
Ooo! As usual, loving the presentation of everything!
And Top Boy S1? Itās a wild rideā¦
I spent way too long wrasslinā with JavaScriptās Intl.RelativeTimeFormat
so that my Listening page can print relative times alongside each of the 10 most recent listened tracks.
Ended up reusing the same code to make some of the parts on my RSVPs page progressively-enhanced to show time-relative text as well. Saves me from arbitrarily rebuilding my static site generator site every time an event Iām attending starts and ends.
Peep the relative time formatting function (and yoink it for yourself to your heartās content) here: chrisburnell.com/src/eleventy/filters/dates.js at main Ā· chrisburnell/chrisburnell.com Ā· GitHub
launched a journal in the museum, full of ideas and things iād like to do for my site in the future! i really wanted to make a journal layout like this after my hall of favorites. so far iām pretty happy with it!
