I don’t know how I missed your rainbow gradients page! What an awesome idea!

Awe thank you! it came into existence because I had a hard time making a good rainbow color scheme from scratch, so I wanted to make a few to have in stock and also have a way to record any cool ones I came across :3

I use batch file and PowerShell scripts, fairly regularly, the do my backups, run various programs, renew the SSL certificates and on on, but the other day I got to think of ANSI, ASCII, Unicode, code pages and all the rest.

Microsoft stopped including ansi.sys in Windows but brought it back in the Windows 10 updates. There’s a disconnect between Notepad, the command prompt and the code pages, but Unicode is supported by both and the ANSI codes work properly again.

My little exploration of such things.

Hello, fellow Chyrp Lite user!
I use Chyrp Lite so I can have a self-hosted microblog too.

So huge overhaul for Studio Luxe

The neon text and borders were hurting my eyes and were taking up too many resources to run so I changed how it looked. It’s not entirely mobile accessible, but most of the important stuff like nav and the main divs work. I know it’s not impressive (it’s not original, I know that too) compared to what I could probably come up with, but I was using up every electron in my brain learning flexbox in real time. I’ll probably overhaul it again after I scrape up some more knowledge. On the bright side, I’m actually trying to use semantic elements somewhat.

using this guide, i have an rss feed for my website! i think?! hopefully it really is that easy and it works… it seems okay so far, and shows up properly on my freshrss! a couple people on cohost asked how to follow my website updates since i disabled my neocities profile. what a pleasant surprise that was!! it is /rss.xml. easypeasy.

i have also added a new page for rubber duck debugging! simple but cute (in my humble opinion). i even made it work on mobile (i think), so it’s been added to the phone zone. actually, i don’t think i posted that i have a phone zone now! i do. it’s just a little landing page that the small-screen version of my homepage links to.

Oh that Chyrp Lite is cool. Didn’t notice it the first time @Leilukin posted it. Congrats to both of you!

To be fair, while I brought up my tumbleblog on the 32-Bit Cafe forums a couple of times before, the conversation about xandra looking for a microblog platform or engine to use, which led to me bringing up Chyrp Lite specifically, happened in the 32-Bit Cafe Discord server.

I used that same guide to set up my blog RSS feed and found it really simple and easy to follow.

Rearranged the content of my website footer, including text content and links.

I also organised my website page files under the hood, by putting all the root directory page files into one folder in my Eleventy working folder.

Currently made a new page for Luxe’s site

Writings

As a way to archive all my writing stuff like poems, reviews, prompts, etc. I think I may join a writing club to fill more of it idk. I only linked my midnight poems, but I’ll add more soon

I’ve had a super busy day today, the first day in months where I’ve actually sat down and dedicated some time to properly working on the site itself.
Today I:

  • Wrote the following: A Uses page, a new blog entry, transcribed a draft article I wrote on paper, and made a contact, links and webrings page
  • Fleshed out my homepage (its still terrible, but its not barren anymore)
  • Regularised most of my tagging
  • Wrote a bunch of shortcodes to do simple stuff
  • Tried and failed to write a shortcode to do something more complicated
  • Found a shortcode someone else had written to do something else even more complicated
  • Tweaked and cleaned up my CSS
  • Did a bunch of spell checking and grammatical tweaks.
  • Setup my site email again after pulling it down a few months ago
  • Setup robots.txt and fixed and tweaked some nginx stuff
  • Started mapping out my attributions and thanks page

It made a pretty stark change from my usual routine of starting Hugo and then getting distracted in 2 minutes!

I have been forced to exit out of hibernation :frowning:

Besides posting the announcement of my Patreon launch, I’ve also updated some of the fonts to use Melvian Sans v2, which has numerous improvements.

Meanwhile I’ve been working on a complete overhaul of my website, even writing new server software to run and maintain it. It’s not perfect but it really fits my needs much better than an SSG. It’s not quite ready to launch yet. Almost.
