Iām sorry, thatās awful. Iāve only experienced this from hurricanes, but at least thereās a season in which you can kind of plan on it and prep ahead of time
Not having running water is bad bad. Hopefully whatever repairs were made last for a long time.
Where Iām from we have semi frequent power outages, which means no pumps getting the water to you, so itās similar haha. A full bucket of water from the cistern felt like it weighed a metric ton.
Man, reading the headline alone my immediate reaction was: I take my ability to turn on the tap completely for granted and have zero preparation or experience for what I would do if my water supply stopped working. Kudos for ⦠surviving that. And making a pot of coffee is definitely exactly how I would celebrate the end too
The Weekly Wrap Up is posted! Links this week include fake birds, vintage perfume bottles and a neat spin on hosting a webserver. I finished another cross stitch project! And, as usual, I listened to, read and watched things.
Ah this post was such a joy to read! Youāve reminded me that we had an electronic typewriter for a time. I donāt remember the make and model, but it also had a word correction feature. I had completely forgotten about it until just now.
Thanks for sharing your train of thought transcripts too. Those were a delightful read and the demo mode output is fascinating. What a clever sales pitch. I love that the sticker says ādepressingā
I donāt know anything about these typewriters, but maybe if it has a limited memory, the āFindā feature is to find a word in the sentence you just typed or similar (as in to quickly move the carriage back to part of a sentence, though Iām sure thereās other manual ways of doing that)?
That typewriter is gorgeous! Youāre right - it looks like itās never been used. I donāt know that anything has ever been as pleasant to read as a typed-up sheet of paper. Where do you find parts for it?
I meant to respond to this days ago and fell down a bunch of rabbit holes. This was such fun to read. You covered a lot of ground in a short time! I really need to get around to trying caddy out. It sounds fantastic.
I also read about your water disruption and am glad youāre through it. I hope your days involve more coffee and VPS and less uncertainty about whether the faucets will work.
Well, my beloved 3-day weekend approaches its conclusion.
I have made a couple more skateboarding-related blog posts.
First, I created this video for the owner of Super 8 Skateboards, who lives in this area and is a nice guy. Iām not sponsored or anything. I just thought he would love to have some social media style video of a 60-year old skater riding one of his boards in a style that might be considered somewhat antiquated. Iām sure that will sell a lot of board, haha.
Honestly, it is kind of a cool little video even if I am the subject.
Then I wrote a post about this particular setup Iām riding, which I like a lot. Skateboarders love to obsess of their boards. Itās what we do.
I canāt wait to get out and skate some more. Iāve been a skateboarder for 49 years, and damn if I donāt love it more than I ever have.
