I don’t trust any US corporation because they have to work with their goverment which I now led by a facist.

then you should avoid all of those countries: US, UK, Canada, New Zealand, Australia, Denmark, France, the Netherlands, Norway, Germany, Belgium, Italy, Sweden, and Spain as they work together between themsleves and the us. as long as ure not doing something shady the 14 eyes don’t affect you too much, but it is something you should keep in mind.

your setup is rather solid tho! i like you’re using a small company for your DNS!

It’s more about building up financial pressure. Also, even if they work together, they won’t do everything the US want.

i like you’re using a small company for your DNS!

Do you mean the registrar or the nameserver? I’m asking because Servfail is not a company but a hobby project by some queer hackers.

yeah im talking about Servfail !!

Went to see a favorite band last night.

The Weekly Wrap Up has been posted! Links this week include pinging whales, optical illusions and surreal art. I actually finished a cross stitch project! And, as usual, I listened to, read and watched things!

Good job in your Giant Squid cross stitch! :meow_cheer:

I just bookmarked the Optical Toys, since I have been fascinated with optical illusions since I was a kid.

I hadn’t heard of ntfy.sh before. That sounds like all kinds of fun.

It takes me a long time to write. Over the weekend I think I had an epiphany about why.

Random unrelated—unrelated to your post, which was excellent—feedback: accepting donations only via crypto I suspect will limit the pool of potential supporter substantially. I, for one, am a big fan of supporting random people online but I also would not touch anything crypto with a 10 foot pole.

Crypto is for money launderers and other criminals.

Man, this hits home for me! Not only did I grow up in a toxic household that did this a lot to me, I remember the days when StackOverflow was 90% answers about why you didn’t actually want to do what you were asking how to do. Working in web development, this was pretty frustrating, because there are plenty of valid situations in which you’re stuck doing things non-optimally. But even if you’re not, it’s still an infuriatingly non-helpful thing to do! I’m much happier these days gravitating towards communities that don’t condone that sort of behavior.

Not saying what you should or should not do. That’s obviously up to you. Was just pointing out the fact that the crypto only approach is not the ideal one imo.

obv not ideal but ‘safest’ one. without whois privacy being the default (thanks eu laws!) i wouldn’t even have a website.

im (un)fortunately kind of paranoid and don’t want my irl info out there

Ok what do we then? Do I leave an envelope with some cash in an undisclosed location and I send you a Google maps pin? Or do you have a non crypto solution for people like me who would love to chip in something?

i could DM you either my IBAN but my country is not in SEPA yet.
i was gonna offer revolut but it won’t let me login it keeps throwing that generic “we’re sorry something has gone wrong” error message
and i could send the paypal me link also in DMs.

ok im actually setting up a ko-fi page. you’re right no one likes crypto

From my experience, you can remain anon on Ko-fi as the creator and it’s only those who donate to you who ~might~ have their name exposed and that’s totally up to them. So I think this this a good idea!
