This post is probably useless as hell, but it’s all my random thoughts about blogging and how much I wanna blog more even if it REALLY sucks.

I took this method into account to push my inner critic from barring me to do something. Sorry for potentially pinging you, Starbreaker RIP

I’m gonna blog more and my inner critic can’t stop me

It’s fine. The apps on my computers know their place. They don’t presume to send interrupts. :)

I’ll read this right away!

I just updated my blog with a post about how I made my first solo ttrpg:

I’ll be reading your post tonight.

The Weekly Wrap Up is posted! Links this week include phone numbers to call and turning your cursor into a kite. Read about my analog efforts to use my phone less. And, as usual, I listened to, read and watched things!

I’ve only ever been a lurker in this community, but this post came to me via the Fediverse today and it reminded me what a delightful space this is. Great work folks.

Cutting myself loose(r) from Big Tech and its algorithms has made me shop less, but when I do, I realize just how bad things are out there:

I don’t go shopping that often, but I can definitely feel this deep in my soul when I need to buy something locally. Late-Stage capitalism is a plague amongst us all and has ironically made things less efficient than they need to be

I wrote about last week because I felt like doing so. It’s kinda inspired by @DivergentRays Weekly-Wrap Ups, but it’ll probably be less consistent. I was supposed to post this yesterday oops. I’ll probably just write about a week if it feels interesting enough for a blog post. I’m trying to get into the habit of doing new things and exploring more so I can have some inspiration for my art and websites.

I feel like writing about this week

you can’t vote with your wallet when there’s no one on the ballot

I feel this one so strongly. It feels like for any hobby more niche than fishing or camping, there are no supply stores left in Australia.

(Correction: there will be one store and it will be 90 minutes away)

There have been (and continue to be) elements of technology that I had a hard time wrapping my head around, so I thought I’d try explaining them to myself by analogy. The posts are more about building a mental model than providing a how-to, but the mental model was the big stumbling block for me for a lot of these things.

SSH keys eluded me for years, so I took a swing at those today.

i use ssh keys for my vps too!! honestly ssh keys make more sense than pwd-based auth. and i’m not sure why more providers don’t make it a default.

your building analogy is exactly it!! u can imagine it as a key unlocking a building physically. while password-based login would be keypad pin you’d give to someone to temporatily access that building

I get a jolt of joy whenever I see Microcosm mentioned, hell yeah!

Continuing my pattern as a Temu Science Communicator, I stumbled upon a really cool new pacemaker technology with some neat physics and chemistry tricks which make it work. So I had to share an even shorter version of how it works

This was such a good explanation. I didn’t really get SSH keys until now. I just pasted the bits in the places whatever guide I was following told me too😅

Great write up. That is such a cool piece of technology!:slightly_smiling_face:
