hey, people who program more than I do, quick question:

are all C# programmers like this

I disliked WebP because I associated it with Google, but Google has their grubby little paws all over AVIF and JPEG XL, too, so rather than wallowing in my self-righteous butthurt I shelled out for a tube of Preparation H and got over it.

The only reason I’m not serving WebP is, as I mentioned in my post, I think AVIF offers better image quality than WebP at equivalent compression settings. And you can click images on my website to see the original JPG and PNG files, which I serve as a fallback to browsers that don’t support AVIF or the <picture> element.

I use C# at my day job, but I’m not a god. I’m just a working-class demifiend. My experience is that there are two kinds of programmers (you’ll know where this joke is going once you’ve gotten more experience).

  1. Programmers who get passionate about a particular language and become evangelical about it.
  2. Programmers who don’t give a damn what language they’re using as long as they’re getting paid.

The former tend to look down on the latter, because the latter have other habits that the former dislike such as logging out and muting their phones after eight hours and paraphrasing GoodFellas when asked to work overtime. (F— you. Pay me.)

Incidentally, I’ve stripped my website naked for CSS Naked Day.

Well your professor is right that C# is objectively the best programming language, assuming that there are only two, and those two are Java and C# :grinning: I’ve never heard someone go so hard for C# before, just C or C++, and at least those people have an argument.

in case it wasn't clear, this post is in jest

thank you very much!

I wrote a blog post about what’s been bringing me joy lately, including foraging wild daikon radish, learning liquid for Jekyll, and playing MIRU (analog adventure game): Lost Letters

semi-unrelated but am i the only one who calls radish “white carrots”, i can never remember the name of it in either of the two languages i speak so its usually just easier to say white carrot lol.

wild foraging seems fun tho! enjoyed reading ur post!

That’s what I used to call parsnips as a kid.

Yes, to me: parsnips are white carrot and daikon are white, carrot shaped radishes.

actually, now thinking about it, yes, parsnips ARE white carrots. for some reason i mixed up parsnips and radish in my head at the time of my reply

I’ve finally made my first update to my website since its launch back in late January! Mainly just tweaks to the CSS and adding my last three animations. I wish I had a new writing ready though.

Yes! I fight this all the time! I have 5x clothes that are too small and 1x that are too big. It’s just stupid. Even if a site has a clothing chart, it’s a toss up whether or not I’m getting something that actually fits.

while not technically “new” personally, I archived my first part of a 5 part blog series of notes from a cybersecurity training course I took last year at my college.
