Hello:

I’ve been a lurker here but my latest was about Disabled Space and Art About making my website a piece of ā€œdisabled Spaceā€

Welcome! (Or more accurately I guess, welcome to posting!)

I really enjoyed your blog post; I haven’t deliberately made my website a disabled place, but several of the design choices are related to my disabilities, like dark mode. I also decided early on that I’ll never include animations, since I find them very distracting; why add something I’d have to turn off to enjoy my own website?

As part of my Disability Pride Month projects, I wrote about my difficulties with a particular aspect of PDF accessibility, reading order. Sometimes it feels like accessibility in programs is made for business and education, not silly little zines…

Nice, I’m much the same. Prefer getting up early, much more productive in the morning which is why I’ve not been very productive website wise at the moment as my mornings are filled with the kids and making sure they’re ready for the day.

The spare time I do get in the afternoon I’ve dedicated to fitness.

I’ll most likely get some morning productivity back once the youngest is in day care and I’m back at work…

I can sometimes be productive in the evenings, but that’s rare now depending how exhausting the day has been.

On the off chance I get to sleep in these days, I sometimes wake up feeling like the day has been wasted if I miss a productivity window in the morning, heh.

I try to hit the gym first thing in the morning, because I’ve found that if I wait until after work I might not go at all. I might not have the spoons.

Speaking of hitting the gym, here’s a new post.

This was me until the kids came along

Fair enough, but that’s not how things worked out for my wife and me, though we had a lot of fun trying.

The last time my mother gave us shit about not providing grandchildren, I said, ā€œYou’re disappointed because we couldn’t have children? Tough. This isn’t our fault. Blame yourself or God.ā€

To this day I suspect she has no idea I had paraphrased Final Fantasy Tactics when rebuking her.

And here I am griping about spammers again.

It’s amazing how spammers aren’t getting any smarter in this AI golden age we’re supposed to be in. I keep getting emails from people asking me if I need web design services to redesign my website :man_shrugging:

I keep getting those, too, but while they’re as hackneyed as power metal tropes (do a shot every time the singer belts out ā€œso far awayā€) they’re not as entertaining.

After deploying my website to Netlify for almost two months, I have moved hosts again — this time to Hostinger:

How do you like them?

I joined Hostinger only for a few days, but I have been satisfied with them so far. Their Premium Shared Hosting plan provides everything I need for my websites at a price I am comfortable spending.

Netlify’s Starter plan had served the needs of my main site well, since my main site is a static personal website, but since I moved hosts to give my PHP websites a better hosting, I decided to make use of Hostinger’s hosting plan by migrating my main site to there as well. It helps that Hostinger supports Git, and has no bandwidth and build time limits like Netlify (both Starter and Pro plans) does.

I’m on a roll this week. My latest on BTRFS under freebsd is up now

The Weekly Wrap Up is up! There’s some cool links (hidden files, pasta classification), my experience with prepared meal delivery service, links to some music I’ve recently acquired and some other stuff.

Continuing my Disability Pride Month theme, I wrote about bread machines and cooking while disabled (or not cooking, in my case).

I wrote a little something about AI: The ā€œblowing smoke up your assā€ theory of AI – Manu

Hi, @manuelmoreale. I read this, and I don’t agree about AI being useful mainly to developers. I’m not sure it’s useful to developers, either. I think of calling my response, ā€œIf You Want Your Code Done Rightā€ā€¦

That’ll probably be the next thing I write.

I’m currently working on a suggested template for a /dating page because calling dating apps shit is an insult to manure and guano, ā€œdate meā€ docs on Google Docs still put a fundamental human experience in the hands of a corporation that should have been nuked years ago, and I’m sick of hearing about how hard it is to date nowadays.

I’m basically summarizing all the shit my wife and I talked about before we even met in person let alone got married, because we dated online back in 2000. We just hadn’t meant to at the time. I don’t know if it’ll help or be useful, but we’ve got slash pages for so many other things so why not?
