I wrote a post about the projects I completed during Disability Pride Month. I’m kind of disappointed I didn’t finish my VR zine, but I’m happy with the variety of things I did - a solo game review, PDF accessibility for a zine, letters to representatives about COVID issues, and a couple blog posts.
Look forward to read both your posts
Had the energy to write today so I’m back with a media roundup for the second quarter of the year!
I’m doing blaugust, so I wrote my second post for the month. And, well, as you can see, it got a little out of hand with all the gushing I did for the prompt. But this is like my third ever time blogging, and it’s a bit of a challenge to maintain a writing habit, so I tend to write these on my phone (thus apologies for any typos, ha): August 5, 2024 | Blog
Wrote something about my assumptions when it comes to design: Digital nudges – Manu
I think about this too. Especially when I want people to see (and maybe even purchase) my art, but dont want to act like an annoying car salesman by promoting it too much.
It really is a tricky problem for people like us who are trying to be respectful and don’t want to be, like you said, annoying car salesman.
Because the rest of the web has probably conditioned users to ignore 90% of sites since everything is filled with ads or other garbage.
I’ve posted an entry with lots of nostalgic rambling about what collecting music was back in the day, plus some info about how I collect now. On the main page I put most of it under a cut, because it goes oooooooon for a while.

I wrote about my P&B series now that 50 interviews have gone live: Fifty shades of people and their blogs – Manu
I visited Pinvin - the setting of pastoral eerie classic Penda’s Fen - and blogged about it.
Took a break from blogging last week but am back with a new entry. I made plarn this weekend, and played some games. Also a small update on the meal delivery service.
Gonna try keep up my blog after a period of barely any posting
Random feedback: not sure if it’s because of the way my monitor is calibrated but this blue over dark blue is VERY hard to read

It’s not just you, @manuelmoreale. I tried running @optimisticlucio’s site through the WAVE extension for basic accessibility testing and it threw over a hundred contrast errors.
Didn’t know about that tool, I’m happy to see that my site is doing great!
I first learned about it at my day job over a decade ago, and started using it on my own websites soon after.
WAVE is great! It does have one limitation for color contrast - it doesn’t seem to flag text with opacity, which can lower actual contrast. To find those, I use ANDI which flags anything with opacity needing manual testing, then test color contrast manually with Colour Contrast Analyzer. But there might be a more streamlined method. ![]()
Oh jesus; I didn’t think it was that bad. It was actually worse before, because for some reason this bearblog template had the highlight background as an even brighter blue.
I’ll try running it through WAVE and fixing it (thanks @starbreaker!)
