Man it’s been some weird stuff. People are kinda goofy. I feel bad for the kids of the people who were convinced it was going to happen. Imagine being told you’re going to die tomorrow, that’s bad enough, but then actually not dying after all. I feel like that’d really fuck with a kid. :confused:

I find it fascinating in a sort of sad way. I don’t use TikTok either but a lot of the YouTubers I follow have been talking about it. One did a pretty good sort of mini doc covering multiple angles of people’s reactions and preparations. Wild stuff.

Oh yeah, I’ve read some shit about JW. Evangelicals are pretty cultish too and that’s what I spent my teens in unfortunately. People really are wild.

Ngl, my first thought was “Idk, that comment makes some good points,” but then I realized your post was about the habit of people using ChatGPT to write their snarky comments, not the specific point at hand, and I agree that THAT is annoying. I come to the internet to argue with real people!! If I wanted to hear “It’s not X, it’s Y” I would use ChatGPT myself.

Busy week for me workwise. I visited the International Aeronautical Conference in my city last week and wrote up some reflections IAC 2025 Reflections

Also, I was interviewed on a friends podcast where I talked about lasers, how we use them to communicate, and how to use them to blow things up.

Thank you! And yeah, I do actually agree with some of the points made in the sample LLM-generated comment I provided (I edited the post to reflect that). It’s so irritating when they hit back with the “why does it matter if I used ChatGPT? the substance is good” argument because … well, the substance isn’t the point! The problem lies with how it was expressed, and why it was expressed that way. I also added an argument against the “that’s ableist!” card they often pull.

Writing the post reminded me why I really just need to delete my Reddit account once and for all, haha. So much trolling happens on that platform… Botsplaining happens on other platforms as well, but it mainly happens on Reddit.
