I updated my CSS Border Image Guide!!! It was one of my first guides and was in dire need of updating. Not only is it much prettier, but more importantly, it should be more clear. The images are also drastically smaller in size ^^

That guide is very clear and it’s also very cool. I had no idea that was possible with CSS. Every time I read about what you can do with CSS I’m reminded that it’s incredibly powerful and I know next to nothing about it.

I had meant to reply but it looks like I didn’t and now I have a mysterious deleted post! It was just this but not as a reply.

Awe thank you! There are definitely some hidden gems within CSS!! I’m always learning some new little trick. (and no worries)

I did everything, lol. After reading about ā€œdigital gardens,ā€ I realized that that was what I’d been trying to do for years (while also trying to run a professional commercial blog with a clearly defined audience. Reader, those do not mix).

So I leaned into it. Stuff, including blog posts, is now organized by category/plant/garden section. I’m not done sorting and organizing everything yet, but it looks pretty: https://samiz.dad/

It’s looking really nice. Your layout is strangely calming, maybe I am just very susceptible to color theory lol.

This week I finally got round to adding an /about page (Which quickly turned into an excuse to infodump about more science I like) and made my /colophon actually-kinda-somehwhat useful and interesting.

I also cleaned up my homepage a little. Obvious spelling errors on my home page wasn’t a good look haha

That looks amazing. The categorization and the layout make it so easy to choose something to read. And I love ā€œCompostingā€ for ā€œcoming soon.ā€

I’ve noticed a couple times now that you go out of your way to describe your research in an approachable way and I really appreciate that.

Thankyou! I’m glad it comes through. It can be difficult to figure out what level to explain things at lol

Thank you. This is awesome.:blue_heart: I often find coding tutorials confusing, but this one is really clear.

That makes me very happy to hear! I tend to get stuck on little things the author thought were obvious, so I try to explain Everything I can (it helps that I remember what I struggled with so I can focus on those things)

ayooo i remember finding your borders guide a long while ago when i was actually setting up a rentry (since those can also use borders with CSS) so that’s awesome to see it updating :D

Thanks again for that. The little things that tutorials leave out because it’s ā€œobviousā€ are very often the things that trip me up.

styling my RSS feed cause I didn’t even know you could do that until today … still a lot of work left, i wanna make a separate CSS file for the styling to easily edit, but honestly they do not make it easy to do live editing on an RSS page and my brain is cooked from class right now

(i cannot figure out why visiting it resets my light/dark mode choice on the website when you return but it’s whatever :raised_eyebrow: )
