I started a little HTML journal to document my observations now that my divorce from Oligarch Tech is final. (Flashed Sailfish OS to a Sony Xperia 10iii yesterday - now I only deal with Oligarch Tech at work.)
It was driving me up a wall how difficult it was becoming to update my website- to the point where I found myself consciously avoiding doing so because of the tedium of adjusting links and the absolute mayhem Iād made in terms of haphazardly organizing folders.
I ended up rehauling the entire thing last night, (which took about five hours) and while it is a bit plainer than the hectic oldwebby charm of my initial layout, (Iāve saved a zip of my website and have a clunky backup elsewhere to rip content from while I was backlogging blog entries), this should make it much easier to actually want to update, especially as my time becomes thinner when academics kick up again.
Iām contemplating moving over some of the badges and banners and stamps at some point, and picking through some of the more novelty-ish pages (like my shrine to St. Michael,) but for now Iām satisfied with how it stands- I hate having a broken, unfinished WIP on my hands, so I sat down and hyper focused for a huge chunk of last night to get it all done in a single sitting.
i finally got around to adding the emmaās rays of sunshine category to my website. for now it has two entries in the category. in the future it will focus further on self-love, self-care, and personal beauty
Unreasonably proud of this, but I added some elements to help with internal navigation on my bigger page. Like my Reading section, where I have a table of contents for each section at the top and one for year read under the āReadā heading.
Now each headline in each section features a navigation link to go back up to the table of contents for the section youāre in. And I added smooth scrolling which makes navigating the document internally⦠smooth!
I started playing around with Drupal. I know thatās not quite indie web aesthetic, but itās a fun CMS to play around with. I think Iām gonna make it a side place to talk about the books I plan to read. Guess I gotta start reading though haha.
Indie web aesthetic be damned. Itās your site. You can do it your way. If you want to use Drupal, then by the power vested in me as a card-carrying Pope of the Discordian faith I hereby grant you any permission to do so that you might think you need.
Drupal is a pretty cool and powerful CMS, I considered using it at one point but went for something with a narrower focus instead.
Speaking of which, today I added a āCurrent Comicā box to the top of my front page, so users can immediately see whatās new without having to commit to the comic itself being the landing page like most webcomics.
Just wanted to say that I thought the way you had written your about page was very lovely āi think all of us have unique experiences in our life that are just for us. but i think many of us at some point, or even just a few of us, will walk a similar path in some parts of life. when this happens, we may look for guidance, or simply want to know we are not alone in that journeyā was very poignant.
thank you thatās very kind of you. i hope to return to more of that type of writing soon. my blog was briefly an outlet for a tough period of depression i was going through, but i donāt think those posts helped any one other than myself. with time i know i will
a lot. i did a lot. and for the first time in a while, too. the main culprits of upgrading/editing were nolove.neocities.org, numbpilledonline.wordpress.com, and hiddengraphichorde.wordpress.com. took some time to actually edit the code as a whole to make it more modernized and reasonable, added more / new widgets and visuals to nolove. plans are in motion, also apps and certain aesthetic based generators are now in development by yours truly. keep an eye outā¦
