i made a page for a prose piece i wrote in late january! itās about being and becoming a writer. we want to make pages for all the longer prose we do, because itās not something we do often :00 - j
I discovered you can edit the firefox New Tab css, as well as the browser as a whole (such as the toolbars) with CSS, and started work on my own browser theme.
I did a bit of cleanup for the online version of my first novel, Without Bloodshed. The page now has a table of contents for ease of navigation, and a link to an epub download.
I had made sure to update the content warning, as well, so that it reads as follows:
This is a work of fiction. Unless otherwise indicated, all the names, characters, businesses, places, events and incidents in this book are either the product of the authorās imagination or used in a fictitious manner. Any resemblance to actual persons, living or dead, or actual events is purely coincidental.
This work of fiction is not appropriate for children under 13 or sensitive readers. The author does not condone any abuses or injustices depicted in this work. Children should consult a parent or guardian before reading further.
i changed up some of the navigation to call out microsites/external pages iāve made for my site like my hall of favorites, which also now has a coffee tracker (thanks to @capjamesg for the inspo!).
also added more to my digital history and a couple more tv show/movie ratings.
finally added contact email to the contact page!
At some point in time I moved graphics around and forgot to update my Ankhesenamun page so it had a naked background. I fixed that. Also updated my reading log for April and added a new online story for your reading pleasure in the Library. And made my weekly blog post.
Iāve got an imcomplete interests page, though some stuff might get big enough to justify separate blog posts (with permalinks from this page).
This was pretty cool to read! It seems we have a lot of overlap in music taste
I really enjoyed reading the section about UNIX (and the BSD page), I find all the different flavors of UNIX fascinating, they are all so similar yet also so different. I had to do some work with AIX a while back and it was both familiar yet alien. I do like the idea of running a āpureā UNIX like BSD but all the stuff I actually use my computer for has much better compatibility with Linux.
I divided my art gallery into two āwingsā: one for 2D art and one for 3D art.
working on the kalos section of my pokƩmon shrine! eventual goal is to be able to click on each pin and learn about that location and my personal relation to it or why that location is important to the region
Iāve been slowly poking at my Eleventy configuration, layouts, and RSS feeds. Not much to show for my efforts, although I now have an āAll Pagesā RSS feed which combines fun pages, projects, blog posts, and changelogs.
Maybe Iāll try to figure out an RSS feed for my bookmarks next, which is a little tricky. Doing the changelog RSS was weird since theyāre all on one page, but at least they were chronological. My bookmarks arenāt really organized in a way that makes sense with chronological syndicationā¦
Today I worked on refactoring the CSS for my fansite. My stylesheet is full of nice little redundancies that needed weeding now that I know better what Iām doing. Blood pressure shot up nicely, however itās a relief that I got started. One day that file will make sense. One day.
Thanks. Iām glad you liked it.
TBH, the last time I had to use my UNIX skills at my day job, I was fetching data off a server running SCO that was going to be decommissioned. SCO tar wasnāt quite the same as GNU tar so I had to RTFM.
This is why I like Slackware. It feels like BSD, but itās still a Linux. Iām not sure Iād recommend it as a first distro to somebody I wasnāt willing to mentor, though. Itās kind of a Dark Souls distro.
I added a lil page to make it easy for my husband to check what we already have at home when heās at the shops.
i made my page pink!
This is so precious! ![]()
Iāve done a few things lately.
For starters, Iāve revamped my home page.
My site is no longer under a Creative Commons license for reasons I discuss on the license page.

I had tried to validate my RSS feeds, found that not only were they failing validation but that partials and macros werenāt getting executed when generating the feeds, so I fixed those.
This is intentional. I modified the stylesheet so that bigger screens get bigger fonts to compensate. Otherwise people on 4K displays will find themselves looking at a column of text about as thick as my wrist.
I see. Not sure if I really support it. I am using a 4k display, but with the scale factor set to 2x, effectively getting a 1080p display with 4 times as much detail. In my experience, most people using a 4k display set theirs to either 2x or 1.5x unless they specifically want to fit more stuff in the same area. I feel like undoing the userās display scale preference makes both experiences more miserable.
