šŸ“ Blogroll: Share your blog posts!

thank you!!! ^_^

yeah, i tried bullet journaling myself, but found it redundant since i already have a system of to-dos which is my phone and that having to update weekly spreads to me was horribly tiring when i already had them listed digitally; it’s hard not to fall out of using it when you end up skipping days, and you’re painfully right that some of the stuff people track feels redundant (at least for one’s self)

i should actually add a link to the video that inspired me to try it again in the blog itself (i did link it in the reply above), cause for me journaling is more an attempt to remember and to thought dump somewhere safe. a travel diary is so cool though!!! i wish i had made some of the trips i’ve taken (i do have photos at least to look back at)

hopefully a line a day helps some people try it out again ^_^ i hope it sticks with me as well at least for a solid while

it took me a second to realize devon price also wrote ā€˜laziness does not exist’ which is why the writing had me nodding in full agreement throughout it … and this article actually made me go remove the ā€˜minors DNI’ off my own tumblr (albeit that one is just because i like reblogging debauched adult posts and don’t censor myself there LOL, it won’t stop anyone from looking though so it feels redundant outside of warning people there’s adult content).

cause thinking about it, even when i was young i came across a lot of adults who were fine, reasonable people, especially in fandom … and even now, i genuinely don’t have issues interacting w/younger people because they were just like us at a point (i’m even part of a yumeshipping discord full of younger peeps, and they’re cool)

anyway, all to say a superb read, thank you for linking it!!

This is a lovely post :) I’ve also found that I’m gravitating towards a simpler life as I get older, though I’m probably a bit more connected than I should be at the moment. I’m glad you’re ā€œfinding your peaceā€ right now, and the marigolds sound lovely!

The Manatee applauds you for writing this. May none of us forget what it felt like to be a young human.

Middle schoolers deserve recess! Also, bigger and sturdier playground equipment needs to become more common. My preteen self would have been more active (and happier!) if I’d had a choice besides too-small kids’ playgrounds, or organized sports I was terrible at. People always complain about teens climbing around on play structures at parks. It’s an obvious unmet need.

My indoor swing is a vital source of sensory joy for me.

Pretty sure that even grown-ass adults could use recess.

During the school year, I eat lunch in ten minutes or less so I can go walk the track/cross country trails in good weather or play basketball with the resource room kids in the gym in bad weather.

which is to say that I agree, adults also need recess.

Absolutely. Play is for all!

You might benefit from Ryder Carroll’s original method instead of the way bullet journalling has been popularized. (You might not, though, it’s not for everyone either.)

I haven’t read that book, but I HAVE seen it referenced before so its on my list!!

Dr. Devon Price’s post came up while I was collecting sources for my post, and I like it a lot, though I do think it has a bit of a rose-tinted view of the ā€œpast internetā€. I can’t say for sure, obviously, since I wasn’t around then, but while I do agree with the overall points I found it slightly dismissive of the problems that sometimes arise with mixed-generation communities and adult-child friendships online. I have a ton of friends my age (21) who share the bizarre and sometimes traumatizing experience of being like, 13 and having an adult turn us into their therapist lmao. Honestly, that topic could be a whole post on itself :eyes:

BUT ALSO @sylviegirly omg youre so right they ALSO wrote ā€œlaziness does not existā€!!! I swear that article changed my brain chemistry. It was super vital to my unlearning of a lot of self-hatred, the values capitalistic society instilled into me, etc etc and was one of the main things i referenced when learning about leftism in high school lol

the book is super worth it as well!! i still haven’t fully finished it (about halfway through), but i’ve read snippets from at least one article (plus i think i saw its stuff on tumblr since he’s there too, and it’s where i saw the initial article that convinced me to get the book). it really is brain chemistry changing (and i wanna lovingly smack my friends whenever they use lazy for themselves)

My pedantic monkey brain really wants to correct you on it being halfway through the year because July 1st the the actual halfway point. I’m so sorry!

But I fully agree. This year has gone at the speed of light. So many things I thought I’d have done by now and… nada. :upside_down_face:

A friend sent me yet another of those ā€œtechbro imagines a world where AI takes over tasks he hates, like…vacationing with his wifeā€ tweets. So I decided to imagine a world where I had an ā€œAI agentā€ that could do jobs for me. It’s a little different than the techbros’ vision.

Thank you! That’s a name I haven’t heard in so many years. I recall spending a lot of time on Ryder’s website, as well as reading their newsletters. There was definitely a disconnect between the minimalism and functionality of the original method and the way it was implemented by the wider community.

However, variety is good and you’ve also reminded me there were specific bullet journallers I really liked, including Kim from Tiny Ray of Sunshine, Kara of Boho Berry, and Jessica from Pretty Prints and Paper. They’re not all active any more though.

As a method, it just didn’t click for me, but that had more to do with not being able to settle on how I wanted to use it, rather than any flaw in the method itself. It’d be interested to revisit some of those ideas. Lately I’ve been adopting some of Tiago Forte’s PARA method principles and that’s been working for me. I think I have a blog post in me about all thisšŸ˜…

The first half of my page about smartphone photography is ready. I decided to put it in the garden and not the blog because I learn new stuff quite often and my technique changes quite often as well, and I’d like to keep it up to date. The second half will be ready once I awaken from another month long slumber:

Mine would select the items I need for a recipe, have them shipped to my door, and then talk me through cooking the recipe, one tiny step at a time.

It would also show me what different hairstyles would look like on me, without requiring a login. Like a magic mirror.
