I feel like the spaces on the internet where itās expected to use a pseudonym have been shrinking in recent years, even as an adult watching it go down, but it is possible I was just not in said spaces before.

I also prefer to have my private space, and I do try not to share my website with people irl, let alone my tumblr (which is linked on my siteā¦ previously i had pages with no links back to the main page but Iāve stopped with thatā¦) However, Iām willing to share my personal and āprofessionalā website on this forum since I have unreasonable trust levels and it technically isnāt that big of a deal. Besides, worst case, Iāll download everything then go scorched earth lol
Sure, archive links remain, but thatās how life online is. I can always delete my tumblr, too
In my case. that cat shredded the bag on his way out when I published my first novel under my legal name back in 2013. Since I was using the web and parasocial media to promote my work, itās just a bit late to go back to being anonymous or pseudonymous.
u could technically start a new website and new pen name but rebuilding the ābrandā for the lack of better words wouldnāt be easy.
so if u ever feel the need you āhaveā to be pseudonymous, you could, but itd be ridiculously difficult to not drop the subtle clues that would connect the ānewā with the old.
I know, but I also know that Iām bound to break character eventually.
Besides, and it might be foolish pride on my part, but why the hell should I hide? Hiding and masking is what I do in āreal lifeā as an autistic man. Nobody should have to do that online if they donāt want to.

Shared this yesterday, got self-conscious, deleted it. Now Iāve revised it and Iām sharing it again. Itās about being my own teacher as a teen, and how that affects me in some not-great ways today. (Donāt get me wrong, independent study can be great for teens, but every kid needs some guidance.)
Hello fellow A Beka survivor! Yeah, those books were crazy, and Iām sorry you had to go through that too. The impostor syndrome can be terrible, but keep pushing through it, and youāll get there. It took me a long time to shed a lot of the thinking I picked up via my fundamentalist homeschooling, but I did eventually do it (for the most part, Iām sure there are still things here and there that I still hold on to).

Nah, fuck this, donāt give in. The real world and the internet are not the same and you are not required to blend the two if you donāt want to. Itās bizarre to me, watching younger people voluntarily putting everything against their meat identity, it feels like a betrayal of the Internetās potential for free expression, and it doesnāt seem to give them any real benefit.
I donāt particularly go out of the way to misdirect away from or guard my IRL identity, but I feel that using different names and faces in different spaces serves other useful functions outside of maintaining anonymity.

Iām coming back around to laptop only tbh, I have a big tower machine but I kind of hate it, it feels so restrictive, laptop is a lot less powerful but itās much easier to get stuff done on it as a practical matter, itās a better uni-tasker.
