My dream living space would be surrounded by greenery, but also filled with the closeness and companionship of the city. Likeā¦ a tree-filled clearing where my frends and I all have homes right beside each other and can see each other every day.

Truly a dream. I have friends who moved to calmer, greener areas and unfortunately that means distance and seeing them only twice a year if that. Living in a big city and making friends apparently always leads to long-distance relationships.
Itās only my second blog post (with the first one being about opening a blog) but I wrote about a silly book I enjoy (āThe Stray Shopping Carts of Eastern North America: A Guide to Field Identificationā by Julian Montague) and a new hobby I kinda developed because of it.

This really resonated; I make zines, websites, and games under my screenname. I really donāt want this persona to be connected to my legal nameā¦ But keeping them vaguely separate requires a lot of work, isnāt fully possible, and means that I canāt easily show people in ārealā life the things Iāve made.

for me, the only REAL reason online me and legal/ārealā me are fully seperated is because at least technically speaking, unless i out myself in real life, the two are completely different gender lol.
but honestly even if my legal name was rina, im unsure how comfortable iād be with people i know/who know me knowing the stuff i made/did online. besides if someone REALLY cared enough to connect the ātwoā meās they likely still could

i think itās interesting that i often see this positioned as a ānewā thing! iāve spent a lot of time rooting around in geocities archives, where it was very common to put lots of personal identifying information on your personal page, including your mailing address. itās not new at all; there just is & always has been a part of internet culture where itās common practice to use a pseudonym and a part of internet culture where itās common practice to use your full legal name, and itās jarring for both when those cultural spaces interact/intersect/come into any kind of contact!
i think itās also worth noting that i also heard ādonāt share your full name and locationā as internet security advice growing up and that it was presented as internet security advice for children!
