I was wondering if youād mention Cohostā¦ Whichā¦ Yeah. Itās a shame things have been managed so badly, although I did already kinda check out after some accessibility discourse.
I noped out when I learned they were going to allow certain kinds of adult material thatās legal in one particular country but not necessarily everywhere else.
So I finally took the plunge and wrote that first blog post Iāve been to get around to for a few weeks now. Itās a post mortem (in a sense, I donāt really know all the correct terminology yet) on a game I made last month: Making + publishing my first game.
I tend to write in my notes app of ease of use, and default to lapslock for anything that isnāt an email or schoolwork, hence the lack of āproperā capitalization. But hey: itās authentically me, and this is a blog post not an essay.
Made a new blogpost about a day ago: Applying to Med School Makes Me Feel Like My Insides Are Being Scooped Out By A Melon Baller (Yet I Persevere)
I am endlessly fascinated by the different careers people on the personal web have. Not everyone is a university student ignoring assignments to work on their websiteālike youāre literally going to be a doctor! Some people are professional artists, IT professionals, authors. Wow.
If youāre thinking of me, Iām sure there are other techies who have also been authors. Charles Stross comes to mind as an example. Also, Carol Berg. Then thereās Catherine Asaro, whoās a scientist, a dancer, and an author (as well as a government advisor). Compared to them, Iām a minor league player at best.
My latest post is all about my love for taking notes in Obsidian and why the app is perfect for my Autistic + ADHD brain!
Obsidian looks AWESOME! Iāve been handwriting mind maps on Microsoft OneNote (endless pages ftw) for ages now, so to see an option that I can type out things and have things connect like a constellation? Exciting!!
I made a blog post out of exhaustion of seeing Squarespace being advertised as a drag-and-drop site maker for Personal websites on youtube videos. No hate to professional portfolios and business sites, but donāt think the people behind the service understand what personal sites are supposed to be like or about.
I ended up posting this as a comment on your post:
I agree, and back in 2012 or so I had tried running my personal website on Squarespace. It was expensive, and limiting, and when I decided I wanted to migrate to a different platform I had to manually convert everything because Squarespace provided no export tools.
Obsidian can be a bit overwhelming to use at first so feel free to ask me if you have any questions about it! Maybe my next post should be about how to get started with Obsidian lol.
Ohh I replied to it in my blog comments, but in case you cant see it here it is
Yikes, that sounded like a pain to deal with. Genuinely didnāt think about how hard it would be to export everything especially since you didnāt program it directly. Imagine what would happen if all those websites become lost forever after Squarespace stops keeping their service up.
I mentioned working on this post a while back. Couldnāt tie it together in a way that made me happy with it, but I decided to publish it anyway. Itās an ode to a friend.

This came up in my feed reader the other day and loved reading it! One of my favourite posts to read in a good while! Sent me down a rabbit hole reading a whole bunch of your other posts.
āa little dust in my throatā made me actually laugh out loudāIāve been there!
The hard thing about hard things was also excellent. Easy to relate to and very inspiring. Youāve got a new avid reader!
Iād love to read that, yes pls!
as a āsocialā smoker now, this is something iām so glad you were able to capture. itās hard to explain how someone could want to only smoke at a bar and with friends (or strangers!), but this perfectly encapsulated why itās possible. (however, i smoked daily for 10+ years before quitting and rediscovering balance years later.)
i have met so many amazing people just from going outside to smoke! itās incredible, the way people connect over this vice. great post
i wrote a list of 35 things i want to do before my 35th birthday! trying to vary up some of my blogging structure :)
This was such a fun read! I hope you accomplish all of them before your birthday.
Thank you! Thatās up there with the most rewarding compliments Iāve gotten since I rebooted my blog. It means a lot.
Youāre already in my feed reader. How goes the relocating and job search? I canāt imagine youāll have any problems finding new employment, with all those awesome projects on your resume. Your personal site is really polished ā in the most positive sense of the word ā and comes across as the āhomeā of someone whoās going to mind the details. Itās inspiring.
@xandra Itās still strange to me how seldom this comes up. Every time Iāve commented on how going out for a smoke is like joining a secret community where everyone is open and friendly towards each other, people nod and agree. Iām glad to hear you liked the post Your list has a lot of stuff on it Iād like to do before turning 40, too. Iām looking forward to draw inspiration from you crossing stuff off the list!
I wrote this yesterday afternoon, and put it on my website half an hour ago.
