The grand prize was a custom-bound edition of The Road by Cormac McCarthy, a piece of art in and of itself.
Correction: It was āBlood Meridianā. A super cool edition āBlood Meridianā
Sadness!

Wrote something about videogames because iām in full retro gaming mode at the moment: Constraints in video games ā Manu
Wrote about my name for the thousandth time, but with the benefit of about twenty years since my last attempt.
I donāt know why, but your post meant a lot to me for reasons I canāt really describe. So I wrote my own post on my journey with my name. It isnāt meant to be a response to you nor am I disagreeing or agreeing with you on anything. You as an author of your blog inspired me to share my story as well, and I really thank you for it.
Thank you for being brave enough to share your truth with us through that entry. Iām glad that you were inspired to share and Iām rooting for you to embrace that truth in other spaces within your life
Weekly Wrap Up has been posted! Found some new music on Bandcamp, debating on what to read next, watched an old, goofy but fun D&D film and shared a couple links - massive collection of silhouettes of just about anything biological and someoneās blog post on medieval side hustling.
I tried my hand at a Link Roundup. Some blog posts, some zinesā¦ Not sure how often Iāll have the energy for this, but itās quite fun!
100% agreement with this post, which is part of the reason Iāve been avoiding AAA for years now. Itās not just because Iām cheap, (I mean, it also is, but also) itās because the games are SO BIG and most of it is fluff. If I get a small indie title or an old game Iām done by the 10~ hour mark and have had a satisfying experience throughout. If I get a new game Iām 40~ hours in and half of it was grinding.
(I have an issue with it in the movie industry too. The average movie does NOT need to be 2 hours long.)
I had more to write about this topic, actually:
Just posted my notes/review for Childhoodās End by Arthur C. Clarke. Excellent science fiction book.
Totally agree that most movies are too long (and for me, too loud and flashy). If a movie is over two-ish hours, it would probably work better as a miniseries.
Something about ducks made of rubber (and how handy they are for software developers).
I have a rubber duck for that purpose, but I prefer a cat.
Made a new blog post after months of inactivity :D As the (Brain) Fog Lifts
Congrats on your diagnosis and lessened symptoms!
The Weekly Wrap Up has been posted! I think Iām officially old because I hurt my back getting up from a chair, PTās still going on, watched a great PBS series on big cats, was busy this weekend creating a couple things for the Halloween event, bought a huge fantasy series which is going to be 3800+ pages in total. Also some cool links including one about infuriating AI shenanigans in the publishing world.
After sharing Jim Mitchellās post, āSocial Media Hasnāt Killed the Personal Blog Just Yetā on Links Around the Web, I ended up writing a blog post on my website inspired by it:
Iāve been sitting on a bunch of posts this month, and finally pushed them.
These arenāt appropriate for all readers.
Iāve been meaning to make this blog post for a while, so I finally sat down and did it. Itās a look at the embroidery/painted patches Iāve been making in my spare time:
