I didnāt even think of that. Part of me was enjoying the blatant flattery. I just knew better than to fall for it.
Sometimes, I wonder if some scammers wouldnāt rather put a Ā« PIDGEONS SCAM Ā» label in their emails.
Iām not sure I get the joke, but thereās no need to ruin it with an explanation. It would be nice to know up front that somebody is trying to con me without having to figure it out myself, but I should get in the practice because itāll only get worse for me as I get older.
Also, maybe Smudge is my purrsona?
While I am busy playing Silksong and preparing for university I wrote a post about my favourite Metroidvania: My favourite Metroidvania
I remember Bloodstained. Good times. Though Iām tempted to do another Dark Souls run.
I blogged about rescuing some stray kittens and their Mommy in my neighborhood. I only managed to get two pictures, but both of them are pretty cute:
so glad you could catch them all! We had a feral cat colony by my last house and a network of neighbors working to catch them all for TNR and it isnāt easy!
blasting back to the pastā¦
oh, iām so glad you got them trapped! they look very cute.
I know intellectually that getting them off the street is the best thing for everyone, but itās difficult not to feel like a villain when doing it.
i feel that - my neighborhood has a lot of feral cats and iāve helped tnr a few of them. (one of them was friendly & adoptable though! he got snapped up in like a day!) it feels so bad to stress them out! i wish there was a way to tell them āi know itās scary but it is good for youā or at least āsorryā so they could understand.

Can I interest anyone in a midweek tiara post? Read about this unique tiara, legit created from the shells of iridescent South American insects.

This is a brief reflection on how we think about writing online, and what it allows us to do that traditional print media does not.
Have you seen things about digital gardens before? This was a great introduction when I first started looking into non-temporal/non-blog websites:
Well, putting the latest entry on top make sense, because thatās what people see first, be they regulars or first-time visitors. And a chronological section makes sense because some writing is inherently tied to a moment in time. But blogs tend to bury old writing under an avalanche of new verbiage, as I wrote elsewhere some years ago. Besides, some text is atemporal by nature, so you want parts of your site to have a more deliberate structure too. Links, of course, are useful either way. Theyāre what makes the web special.
So yeah, itās totally worth thinking about this stuff and doing things intentionally. I mean, even forums turned out to need wiki-style topics, just as wikis turned out to need discussion pages. Canāt have just one way of presenting information.
A post about Hollow Knight: Silksong and how difficult it is, which I am sure no one has ever made before /s
Thereās fundamental difficulty, and then thereās accidental difficulty, and itās easy to mistake the latter for the former. Not to mention people often want to enjoy something without having to pass a challenge first. Without having to earn their moment of relaxation.
i dont really like this idea that āwell, [thing] is MEANT to be difficult!ā because even though you can never include everyone when making a game you can still try to add accessibility features (especially in a single player game where those features affect yourself only). the truth is that a lot of devs dont even think about accessibility at all and theres a big sense of pretentiousness in the fan community of ādifficultā games about well, being good at the difficult game. and then the burden of adding accessibility features falls onto the hands of moddersā¦
i remember as a kid when super mario 3d world (the Wii u game) came out and peachās ability to float for a short amount of time FINALLY allowed me to play beyond the 1st level of a mario game. idk if it was really intended as an accessibility feature or just as a fun gimmick, but it was a huge thing for me! and i dont even have that big of a problem with games.
To clarify - I agree that devs should still try and accommodate for accessibility features if possible, thatās why I commented that asking for something like button remapping was an entirely valid request. My point was moreso that, unless you allow to control over nearly every mechanic that may pose a challenge, youāre necessarily going to exclude some people from your playerbase.
Street Fighter added accessibility features allowing for people with visual disabilities, like BlindWarriorSven, to play the game at high levels, but the fundamental structure of the title makes it much harder for people with issues with reaction time, yknow?
cool. I have one Cherryh book on my to-read list. Will add more.
