The Weekly Wrap Up has been posted! Links this week include a search engine for museum art, glittery rhino poo and how the Romans were really into road endpoints. I talk about cherries, finding shades for the cool thrift store lamps from last week and postcarding. Plus, as usual, I listened to, read and watched things.

A while back I did some introspection about my feelings on the web and especially social media, and wrote it down as notes on my phone. Since I just got into blogging, I decided to clean up my thoughts and format them into a proper post. I don’t think any of my thoughts on social media are unique, but writing this helped affirm some of my decisions on how I engage with it.

I created a mini site called Font Lonesome, a searchable collection that helps you find HTML entities that can be used for common icons on personal blogs. These are the only icons I use on Newsonaut. I find it easier than setting up a third-party service. It can also be fun to see what you can dual-purpose.

Nice blog post! I mostly agree with you, except a little on being bored having no value because it actually really does (in a way that it’s not really boredom anymore). Basically, downtime from intake of media/information is actually pretty awesome, its the period of time where you’re marinating what you know, what you think, and where your ideas come from. It’s memory-making, daydreaming, and you should sometimes just let your mind wander without needing to fight boredom, instead let boredom turn you to your own thoughts. Maybe not for a whole flight tho lol but its kind of harmful to be looking to kill boredom any time it arises. I do find people bragging about it hilarious though, like it’s useful but not an especially difficult task? Most people can do it lol

…But, isn’t that what daydreaming and letting your mind wander is, though; fighting boredom? I’d personally argue that if you’re meditating you’re not bored, since you’re still doing something.
