Affordable EU based shared hosting

I’ve been hosting on a VPS hosted by a friend for a few years now, however due to me not quite agreeing with his awful views on the world I’m looking for a new home for my tiny website and email.

Does anyone have affordable reccomendations for shared hosting in the EU area? (preferably not a VPS, since I don’t want to manage my own MTA)

Hetzner maybe?
I don’t know much about them other than they’re in the EU though

I know of a couple EU based hosts, though I can’t verify their affordability.

OVHcloud is based in France, if I remember correctly (I’ve been using their US arm for VPS, which is kind of sort of a separate company).

Netcup is based in Germany. I haven’t used them myself, but I’ve seen them recommended by others.

Both seem to come with email.

If you need static website hosting, I’ve tested a couple of free static hosting options that are in the Europe area.

Maybe someone can recommend a good European-based email host. I remember a thread from a while back about email providers (actually two threads), and I think some people mentioned Europoean options.

For paid shared hosting, Hetzner is based in Germany and and I believe Hostinger is a European company. I haven’t used them, but hear them recommended, and they’re on the resource list.

I am currently using UpCloud which is just okay.

I’m mostly specifically looking at shared hosting though (so not a VPS).

Sadly the search for a decent-but-cheap enough shared hoster is just hard… even if its just a few static sites

I tried a few ones so far, including hetzners shared webhosting but their UI is just plain confusing (and unusable), and more local (belgium) offers are usually either unaffordable or lack basic things like a spam filter…

How many sites do you need to host? Do you have a domain name? I suggest trying out one of the free static hosting options for your website and hosting your email elsewhere. I assumed it was custom domain email you’re looking to host, but maybe that’s not what you want.

How are you defining decent? Are you looking for a cPanel host, or something else?
