🚧 What did you do to your website today?

coded a guestbook but properly

it now uses database and not .json file, so i won’t lose people’s entries like in the past!!!

I removed the markup and unnecessary assets for my websites’ default favicon from the HTML <head> tag, after learning more about favicons from Get out of my <head>'s guide, ā€œZero byte favicon markupā€.

The only pages where I still add a favicon markup are my shrine pages on the main site and my individual fanlistings, where I use icons relevant to the page’s topic as the favicon.

Finally got around to making a ā€œStrava replacementā€ section on my website. Did all of the basics yesterday, and added some niceties today, and I’m really happy with it: Workout Log — Lars-Christian's website

It’s not really a ā€œStrava replacementā€ but it has everything I want for tracking and analysing my workouts.

nothing major. рина.орг redirects to one of my (older) domains riri.my.

the issue is that рина.орг shows as xn--80appk.xn--c1avg almost everywhere, and that scares people away. Because quite frankly, it does look sketchy when rendered like that…

I submitted my site to two webrings and was accepted by both! The links are now in my footer on my site.

i added some bot trolls

https://riri.my/.env
https://riri.my/.git/config
https://riri.my/.htaccess

all of those render a <h1> that says meow and theres a also a meme under that says "are you going to meow back?. while checking logs ive seen an attempted access to .git/config, so i decided to have a little fun with it

I added a library section to track some of my books since I don’t actually want to keep a GoodReads page but I occasionally want to point at my thoughts on books.

My notes have way more books that I will eventually get onto the page… need to decide how long I want the list to be lol.

Super happy with how the CSS animations look tho

That’s looking good. I like the animation!

I have converted my website’s Git repository on 32-Bit Cafe’s Gitea instance from a mirror repo to a regular repo, thanks to 32-Bit Cafe’s Gitea instance now supporting Gitea Actions. This means now I deploy my website from Gitea to Hostinger via Gitea Action.

Since I recently enabled SSH access to my websites’ server on Hostinger as well, I use the ssh-deploy GitHub Action for deploying my website.

I revised my old Manifesto page into a Why page. Ironically, the new version is more opinionated than before.

I just added a screenful of text on the merits of command line apps to my other-other site, and my personal rules for good CLI design (at the very top).

the whole site is gonna change

Semester break so I’ve started the project to recreate my site’s layout from scratch in a way that is responsive. So far I’ve done the index.html page! (though it’s not online yet). Wanting to hack away at this slow and steady.

made a very crude-ish admin panel

instead of flat html files, now each blogpost is an entry in a database. i think this is a better practice.
also, i can approve/disapprove guestbook entries.

admin panel is behind a IP allowlist and a strong password
i spent all afternoon adding this… its mor of a feature for me than for anyone else but its important to mention it :)

I added collapsibles for some of my interests. I will move it to my index page when it’s ready!

Alrighty, I can finally come up for air now that I’ve finished most of the Recordshelf revamp.

Happy to receive bugs, inconsistencies, suggestions how I could display the data nicer.

I’m aware that many elements could have more spacing to breathe easier. I’ll get onto those later!

There’s a few problems with some crappy note data being fetched from discogs that I’ll clean up later.

  • One can now (optionally) add one’s website URL in the guestbook!
  • Added more thumbnail images to the gallery
