I wanted to share here a project I’m working on since almost 7 years. It’s a kind of Wiki engine, but that allow to mix many page designs and that can be close to hand writing HTML (not an easy job to summarize it for me). It’s supposed to be easy to install on any host that have PHP and Apache.
It’s called “W”.
It started as a personal project, then I shared it with some friends and now, I’m sharing it a bit more so that people who might be interested can have a chance to find it.
The story
Back in 2018, I wanted to have a place on the Web to take notes and at the same time to be able to publish them quickly. A website but without homepage, and where pages are not all linked together. That way I can give a page address to some people and they can explore from there. (Juste like the Web 
) So I could have different pages shared with different people.
After looking if this tool existed, I decided to build it myself. I’m not a professional dev, but I just knew a bit of PHP and had already build a few projects before.
Building a tool for yourself is a very interesting process. I have a lot of fun in the process and learned a lot ! Of course, if I had started now, I would have made different choices since my point of view evolved.
I’m still using it and updating it today, and even a few friend use it as well (and maybe some other people). I’m helped with my little brother who is more seriously into coding stuffs. In 2024, another person joined the project: Julien Bidoret. He helped to make the interface way clearer and smoother !
