I have wanted to do a web directory for awhile on neocities ![]()
TLKFAA Directory (idea 1)
A possible test case is doing one for the TLKFAA community. It’s a fanart gallery site for the lion king that came into existence around the time DeviantArt launched, but has outlived it in terms of ethical webmaster-ing, since the same guy that created it is still running it actively patching it 25+ years out. To describe it, it’s like AO3 for cartoon animal artists. Brian always put community first with the features he built for it. Most people don’t use the site anymore, but a lot of artists trace their beginning to this website. https://fanart.lionking.org/ So I feel if people join the directory, it would be like sharing their baby art. Some accounts list their birthday and a great many are users in their 30s and 40s. So I partly consider it an “alum” kind of directory as well as a “current creator” directory. It’s hard telling if there is interest as it definitely has a “nostalgia” factor but people who would probably sport the badge are not actively looking for this.
General Feral Animal Directory (idea 2)
As a fallback I may trade up and just do a general feral animal artists directory
Idea 2, but obviously I have not devoted as much thought to it yet since it’s more general and I’m not in contact with any takers. There’s not as much of a nostalgia factor but probably a bigger pool of active creators. **Feral just means wild-animal shaped, so anthropomorphism is often kept to a minimum minus talking or such. Lion King would be considered feral, as well as general wildlife art.
Wireframe I made for TLK directory.
I was only able to contact one interested party, so that’s one person who would like to be on it.
Text subject to change
These target groups are a little difficult to find, so it’s hard to get feedback ![]()
I’d like comments/crits. Also very interested if either idea appeals to anybody!
