Recurring creative challenges

Hi everyone!

A few months ago I created a site that lists recurring and ongoing creative challenges:

There’s a few neat little features that I quite like, for example, the current day of the week and month are highlighted inside the main navigation bar. You can also click the tags to filter similar challenges, and you can add each of them to your calendar as a reminder.

I wrote about my motivations, and my own experience with these kind of challenges on my blog.

Would love to hear what you all think about the site, recommend more challenges, or just share what kind of challenges you all do!

For a couple more art challenges, I’ve done KaiJune (for monsters) and SmAugust (for dragons). They’ve been great fun.

This is such a handy list, thank you wow! I honestly can’t believe something like this hasn’t existed yet :O I’ll let you know if I find/think of any that aren’t here

My pleasure, really glad you like the website!

This is really cool! I think I have a few you might want to look into?

  • MoZiPro - Monthly zine prompts! They’re looking for suggestions for next year, so it’s ongoing.
  • #SciArtSeptember - A challenge for science art! Link is to this year’s prompts, but I imagine they’ll be back next year.
  • #FinishOrFrogAlong - A September/October challenge where you finally finish or abandon craft projects (“frogging” is undoing knitting). Also involves weekly discussion prompts on the fediverse.

July is also International Zine Month, but I don’t have a specific link for it; usually several people and groups share prompts for zines and zine-related activities.

What a cool resource, thanks for sharing!

  • Maybe 36 Days of Type could be interesting? The dates are not the same each year, but they happen between february and april.
  • Back in my instagram graphic design days, there used to be a challenge where you post a poster every day for 365 days. I don’t remember what it was called tho, but maybe someone else does?

Thank you, and thank you for the suggestions!

this is a great resource, thanks! I’m going to bookmark it.

here is another for January: Fun a Day

I like this one because some local places take your daily art and put it on display like an art gallery

Also, April is National Letter Writing Month, like with Zine Month there’s no specific link but people usually challenge themselves to write a letter a day.
