the tech limitations are helpful to me, I could hook up bigger CMSs and other softwares but I start to glaze over fast. It’s cool working pared down and clever, I focus better. There’s some templates but a lot of people roll their own too and it’s fun to see what they come up with to make their site work.
neocities falls right in line with my personal philosophies. Whatever they are.
As I’ve written here before, I’m a public librarian. Access to information and information tools, for free, are very much my bag. Access to creative outlets, resources, and tools are also very much my bag.
I started fiddling around with this little site. I may actually pay for an account, mainly because I want to support what they’re doing.
I’ve had a few of these pages sitting around for quite a while, and finally got back to working on them a little bit last night. I think it will support server site includes, so I could actually make a fairly nice site here.

It is a bit disappointed neocities doesn’t not allow server-side includes, but whatever. I can work around it.

Thank you so much! That was the goal tbh, just to be unapologetically myself and put whatever I want on it, with no restrictions, even if it seems tacky or kitschy, so I love that you said that :3
I don’t think that it’s a case of “not allowing SSI”, but that it’s not using Apache as the web server backend - SSI is an Apache thing isn’t it?
