Microsoft command line text editor

Anyone try out this bad boy yet?

Ngl, it is not actually that bad, I like that it uses normal-ass keybindings and is very fast. (Its written in rust, btw ), probably won’t replace my daily driver “text editor for absolute dumbasses” micro yet but now at least we have further layers to the confusion of “micro? you mean microsoft word, the text editor from microsoft?”

My favorite comment about this was someone posting on Mastodon: “you know the state of MS dev tools is abysmal when a text editor for the terminal is big news”.

Seriously, I don’t think Micro is for dumbasses. More like Vim for people who want a text editor, not a religion. And I say this as someone who can actually use Vim for serious work in a pinch. But hey: the more, the merrier.

The real question is can it do vim motions :stuck_out_tongue:

It’s a shame the name micro was already taken.

A new text editor? They should have stopped at Edlin, it was good enough for us back in the day!
