šŸ“ January 2026 Blogroll: Share your blog posts!

The Weekly Wrap Up is posted! Links this week are a physical 90s game hotline simulator, a writing collaborative set in a shared science fiction universe and a directory of audio dramas that have either season or series finales. I finally finished a cross stitch project, I did civic stuff and I listened to a presentation on sustainability and saw a special movie presentation. The extra link bonanza continues! Plus, as usual, I listened to, read and watched things.

Haven’t blogged in a while. To recompense, here’s two back to back, both of them somewhat negative.

First one is about online terminology,

second one is about employment,

@guin & @optimisticlucio:

Yeah, it isn’t nuts to think that calling something ā€œspiritually Israeliā€ is says a lot of unflattering things about the person doing so. It’s like, can we not make everything about Jews or Israel? If we can’t dispense with scapegoating altogether, let’s at least find scapegoats who haven’t been the world’s chew toy since roughly 732BCE?

Am I just old, or is there suddenly something wrong with calling people assholes? Should I start calling shit I dislike ā€œspiritually reactionaryā€? I’d love an excuse to do so…

That is sick. You are now tempting me to get a new expensive hobby.

This is crazy cool :smiley:

I would suggest looking for local cocoa suppliers before buying the expensive appliances.

I nearly ended up paying more on shipping than on ingredients before I managed to find a local supplier on the third page of Google lol

steals your chocolate and eats it, before running away

Okay on a serious note, this is so fucking cool and I’m still trying to figure out how you made literal chocolate shiny?? I never thought chocolate making could be a hobby bc I’m broke as fuck, but holy crap I want in :heart_eyes:

The shine itself if just from tempering the chocolate properly, but to get those rainbow reflections was surprisingly easy. Just some cheapo holographic molds off amazon.

But yeah, super fun. Glad you thought it was cool! I have been sharing it with everyone I have met IRL since trying to show off share the fruits of my labour haha.

I decided to post again in this month’s IndieWeb Carnival, this time on the meaning of life. It was a such a fun topic, but it took a while to let my thoughts coalesce into something that was readable and not all over the place!
