Canât believe I got my 2026 Techo Kaigi (âPlanner/Notebookâ âMeeting/Reviewâ) in before January ended, haha.
Just yapping about the planner, notebooks, and sketchbooks I used in 2025, and my intentions with notebooks going into 2026.
@hikatamika, I am not disciplined enough to keep a journal but I loved reading about all of your journals/sketchbooks! And even though I am absolutely not into journaling/fountainpens/etc, I just had to look up the Noodlerâs Ink controversy and ⊠wow!
@small_cypress - your heating bills sound like summertime Arizona A/C bills! Man, 57F - I would just be frozen. Warm thoughts to you and your household! Also, yay for pillowforts!
@Moxie - so sorry to hear about your health issues. I donât have a chronic condition, just a temporary one, but Iâve also gone through not being able to do anything except sit (and even that worked against me!) because of it and no clear end in sight.
Did my first post for the IndieWeb Carnival: The meaning of life · Chameth.com
Itâs a bit outside my usual tech-heavy wheelhouse!
this genuinely means a lot to me, wow :â) i really appreciate your kind words!!
new weekly wrap up! didnât consume media this week due to school starting, but i added a section for what i learned about this week, ranging from imminent eschatology, metaphysical naturalism, tibetan geography and culture, and how to say hi in taiwanese!
The Weekly Wrap Up is posted! Links this week are a journalistâs story about volunteering to mail books to prisoners, an immigrantâs reflection on his naturalization ceremony and Tim Berners-Lee explains why he gave away the World Wide Web for free. Iâm back at work writing postcards to voters, one of the peeps I follow on Neocities made a neat thing and I tease some possibilities for next weekâs post. Iâm still underwater with links so thereâs another Link Lagniappe at the end of the post. Plus, as usual, I listened to, read and watched things.
Gave my site another refresh! Most of the work I did was on behind the scenes stuff (I managed to remove almost 900 lines from my way overbloated SCSS file, lol), but the design has changed a bit as well. Talked about that in my latest blog post:
If youâve booped the cat before, you may want to boop him again ⊠he reacts now and is so grumpy. ![]()
Looks even better now. And it seems your cat is as old as mine, and is also a querulous coeurl.
Thank you! starbreaker.org actually provided some inspiration for my redesign; I love how everything is so clear, consistent, and functional on your site. Links look like links, and stuff just works. I wanted my site to have that same level of directness and ease of use.
Curmudgeonly old cats are the best. I love my guyâs indignant squawks when he experiences even the smallest inconvenience or disruption to his routine. The bottom of his food bowl is visible? âMAAARH.â Brushed up against him slightly while sitting next to him on the couch? âMAAARH.â Food provided five minutes late? âMAAARH.â If he used a cane to get around, heâd âaccidentallyâ hit people with it. Heâs adorable.
Thank you! I had tried to design for readability, and to improve on browser default styles. If they werenât invariably crap I wouldnât have nearly as large a stylesheet, but browser devs havenât updated the default stylesheets since around 2001, so here we are. ![]()
Smudge will just prance in front of the TV in the middle of boss fights. Or grab my sleeve when Iâm working to demand headpats. Or lean on my shoulder and rub his face against my head, and then meow in my ear. But if you say âCome be my kittyâ, heâll also climb into your lap and curl up most of the time.
Iâve posted my goals for 2026, as well as a look back on 2025 goals. I also do a bingo card of my goals and award myself a treat if I get a line. ![]()
Finished watching Pluribus!
Played and reviewed the first ever Hannah Montana game!
Wow, thank you so much! Itâs great to hear you like what I share so much. And Iâm happy you discovered a new animation :3 I hope you and your wife enjoy growing your physical media collection. Itâs really important to take the power away from streaming services and own the content which we enjoy. I discovered that when I couldnât find my childhood dubs anywhere on the Internet, and more recently when some of my favourite shows were pulled from streaming.
I really enjoyed reading the post you linked! I probably will read the rest of your Studio Ghibli posts too :3 You have a really good, relaxing, beautiful writing style! Very calming and personal. I love it!
Later down the line, I probably will move my blog to a self-hosted instance, but rn WP is easy and cosy. I actually had a few blogs too and have been on Blogger as well. those were the days, huh? I hope your animation project goes well! you should definitely keep striving towards it if itâs something you want to create :3
Itâs time for the biweekly tiara post! Can I interest anyone in this fanti-sea of a tiara?
Iâve got two posts back to back right now. The first is a questionnaire being shared around the Fediverse about plain text:
And the second features a patchwork quilt I have recently finished. Bonus, pics of my cats at the end!
A rambly one about being by myself for two weeks as an extrovert, and dealing with my first snow storm as an adult in a new, cold state.
I have published a new weekly recap post:
trigger warning: US politics, state-sanctioned violence, death
