I wrote a post about the downfall of Stackoverflow. If you ever used it in the early days, or at all I guess it might be interesting to read…

It also meant I had to theme graphs to match my blog which was fun, I really enjoyed putting together the data for this one so expect more like this in future when I find something else that inspires me.

This was a great read. I used StackOverflow in the early days (2008 - 2010ish) for questions about Unity, but haven’t thought of it as the place to go for dev questions in years.

Note to self: wanna have something to write about? Got to stay busy! My first blog post for this year is a return to one of my perennially favorite subjects: Tips for outlining suggests a simple format for writing plain text files that are compatible with a lot of outliners and mind mappers, which can be useful in all kinds of situations. It’s not much, but it’s honest work. Doubly so for quick notes jotted down on a Sunday afternoon.

Thank you, that was a really interesting read. I had no idea that Stack Overflow use had fallen off such a precipitous cliff… I personally never use LLMs to figure out code-related stuff and still rely on Stack Overflow answers regularly, so this is quite worrisome.

Also, I love your site! Really cool aesthetic.

This is such soothing content! I knew about Obsidian, but the rest are new to me.

I’m happy to have read this. Well wishes on your teeth-brushing journey :notebook:

Happy day.

I did some quick experiments against the current crop of ImageGen AI models to see if dithering your images is still a good way to protect yourself from deepfakes and that

The answer is, maybe, but not as well as I hoped

A few things I wrote this weekend. Nothing long.

That is true, that we seem to be heading (back) towards personal recommendations and chance for finding interesting things. Most of the people I’ve seen make that point compare it to pre-search-engine internet, but comparing it to physical items that are sometimes hard to find also makes a lot of sense!

The Weekly Wrap Up is posted! Links this week are about creating food out of thin air, being someone’s eyes and vintage news. I donated blood, I got set up to comment on state legislative bills and, due to my link hoarding, there will be a new temporary section of the website where I can set them free. Plus, as usual, I listened to, read and watched things.

Your studio is lovely! And I loved seeing what you found at the book store.

I don’t know how you feel about cats but there is what looks to be a cool cat-related art exhibit at the Walters Art Museum in Baltimore, Paws on Parchment, until February 22.

Your weekly wrapups are so much more detailed than mine! I am just going for trying to get into the habit of posting them currently… Week 3 - ritual.sh | Week 3 - Bit Chilly Out

Ahhh good to know! It’s my favorite museum as an antiquities weirdo and I am taking kids on a field trip there in a few weeks so I can hype it up!

What it says on the tin. A bit rambly yet also not very detailed but this was also mainly a warm up.
edit: also if anyone happens to have any suggestions on what to see around the Netherlands… I’m all ears :meow_coffee:

Holy crap, I had completely forgotten about LJ moods! I was more into making icons during my LJ days, but vaguely recall making a few mood themes as well. Thanks for that little blast from the past. Also, your studio looks wonderful!

Thank you for donating blood! Also, thanks to your post, I just learned that Canada also lifted its Mad Cow-related donation restrictions a couple years back. I have no idea how that news slipped past my radar. I’ve wanted to donate blood for decades now, and was previously unable to do so because I also lived in a country that sold a lot of UK beef back in the mid-90s. Time to make an appointment. :slightly_smiling_face:

From the CBC article I found after reading your post:

It’s now known that the average time from exposure to developing the illness is eight and a half years, she said, and that it can be fatal within about 14 months.

That means people who lived in the high-risk countries in the 1980s and 1990s would have developed the disease long before now, she said.

Phew, also good to know. :joy:

I like your week notes! Weekly wrap ups/notes don’t have to be long and detailed - that’s just me.

Yay! And I’m so jelly. I was hoping the museum would have something like an exhibition book since I can’t get there in person but no such luck. :slightly_frowning_face:
