Hi folks! I have a book blog, called ‘Road Less Read’, and was thinking a fun community project could be an interview series with people who have personal websites and enjoy reading, about their reading habits, and how (if applicable), their site informs their reading?
Would anyone be interested in participating? No worries either way!
Update! Issues are now published each Saturday-ish. Would love more participants!
I’ve created a page with more details, but to summarize:
If you’re interested in participating, just answer at least five of these questions however you like, and email me at hi@zacharykai.net with your responses and a link to your site.
What book changed how you think about the internet or consumer technology?
When you finish a book that moves you, what’s your first instinct?
Has a book ever inspired you to build or change something on your site?
What’s a book you’ve recommended the most, and what does that say about you?
How do you decide which books deserve a place on your site versus staying private?
What’s something you believe about reading most would disagree with?
If you could design a library that reflected your site’s ethos, what would it look like?
What’s a genre or type of book you used to dismiss but now love?
How has having a personal website changed the way you read?
What’s a book you wish more people would read, and why?
Not sure if I’m clocking enough reading hours to qualify, but I do want to read way more than I currently do! I deeply enjoy it—I’m just struggling with my bad scrolling habits right now lol.
If you’re looking to interview a variety of folks anywhere on the reading spectrum, I hope I can represent the casual end!
I’d be happy to! I’m always reading something, and although I haven’t been posting about it lately, I’ve been planning on bringing back my reading reviews. I’ve got the old ones here in case you’re interested in what I have to say:
Do you have an announcement post that I can share to the Bookworms community on Pillowfort? Or should I just link this thread?
A few more words about your criteria and intended scope could be helpful here, too. For instance, I don’t blog regularly about books; I just occasionally write essays about them, once in a blue moon. I’d imagine that this is not what you have in mind. But saying more about what you do have in mind might help folks to decide whether or not your call for participants is applicable to them.
I’d love to participate! I don’t keep the book recs on my site super updated and I certainly don’t read novels as much as I used to, but I think it would be fun.
Only started regularly reading again this year, but I do have a couple of reviews in my media wrap ups on my blog. Like Coyote said, I’d like to participate but I’m not quite sure if I’m what you’re looking for!
Nice blog! I’d be happy to contribute. Don’t know if I read enough to qualify, but my full reading log is available on my website. One of the fun things about building your own websites is that you can do things like that: I.e. make your own goodreads replacement in case you want to share what you’re reading :)
I’d definitely be up for it! I write about books I’ve read now and then on my personal blog and try to keep my /now page up to date with what I’m currently reading.
Yeah, I’d be keen. I keep a reading list on my website Library (something like a goodreads because i don’t have any desire to use the “social networking” side of that.)
I mostly read non-fiction, and very happy to talk about my thoughts on things and trying to tie things I read to games I play, (ala this blogpost )
A lot of my blog posts are about books or mention them in some way, and the only proper pages on my blog thus far are about books… I wouldn’t say that my web presence influences my reading, more like my reading was a major reason why I returned to blogging.
I’m not sure I’ve got enough to say to be interviewed, but let me know if there’s any way I can help!
P.S. I just remembered I’ve got a page with sources for free legal books! I forgot that.
Thank you so much everyone for your interest! I really appreciate it. It’ll be a wonderful project thanks to you all! I’ve created a page, as per @Coyote’s suggestion with more details, but to summarize:
If you’re interested in participating, just answer at least five of these questions however you like, and email me at hi@zacharykai.net with your responses and a link to your site.

I can’t wait to see what you write (and get recommendations for my ever-teetering TBR!)
Third interview is live, this time with @Grubdog ! Thank you so much, and apologies for the delay in notifying everyone. I’ve been unwell and traveling.
