Hyper Synchronism - an artistic spin on web searches

From the artists’ website:

Character by character, the user types a string. The site finds matching characters in a corpus of texts. Visitors can only type characters matching existing strings. So, as the input grows, the letters slowly dis(and re)appear, until you’re left with a series of letters matching only one chunk of writing. That entry is hyperlinked to the original piece.

It’s a very unusual, and probably impractical, method for navigation, but I thought it might spur some thoughts in the folks here.

whats the artist’s website? im wondering about the web pages that are searchable with this tool - how are they chosen? after searching and reading some for a bit, it seems to be a collection of essays. they all seem to be chosen in relation to their topics on digital culture (at least, the ones ive seen so far).

Yeah, I wish they had included a link back to the artist, but I ended up pulling it from the contact email in that verrrry tiny info button at the bottom. It’s https://www.willallstetter.com/
