How do you organize micro sites?

So I’m planning on adding some micro sites (not sure if correct term usage - please correct) to my web page that I can distribute for smaller projects - e.g. like a page dedicated to resources for a game I play, another area showing my collection of hiking photos, etc. When you create a section that has a different CSS and feels like a completely separate site - is it best practice to make a new URL and whole new site? Or is it okay to keep it under your main domain but just keep them in different folders? I want to make sure I”m organizing things efficiently

Some people probably do make whole new sites for things like that, but you’d probably be fine just putting them in different folders. I personally keep everything on one site.

i personally just do the same site, it helps to have folders for things to separate them, and you can even have index.html files for each folder to kinda denote it as its own thing (and shove the css there too if it helps)

If it’s somewhat related to my website, then it will have it’s own folder under the main domain. If it is it’s own thing, then a subdomain.
