What’s going on, Internet? What’s the latest on your blog? Share it here!
Here’s my January retrospective, featuring a summary of the blog posts I wrote, some of the entertainment titles I recommended, and some of the interesting links I came across this past month.
Latest weekly post achieved!
I have published my first weekly recap post in February:
Yes, I feel this too… My curse is that I don’t have much talent/experience with visual art or graphic design so I feel like my website basically is the text I put on it. Hence all I can think of to do with a personal site is, you know, write a blog.
I really like the personal sites people do that aren’t a blog at all, though, just a deep dive on a particular topic or the author’s interests without a particular structure.
Oh yeah, relatable, 100%. Funnily enough, not helped by this blogroll which has reintroduced likes and views into my blog lol. (I still enjoy posting here, but I’m sure this forum, as a social media site, is not helping.)
For me this mindset shift was a little easier by being someone who used tumblr a lot, because there your account is generally agreed to be “I post whatever I want, and if you don’t like it stop looking” rather that a constantly-curated feed for an audience.
Did I miss the monthly updates train? Someone hold the door!
I was snowed in with school canceled and alone so I watched way more TV than I would usually. And I started a quilt ![]()
The Weekly Wrap Up is posted! Links this week are making a snow rose, regional dart boards and pictures of the elusive European wildcat. I share a picture of the cross stitch project I recently finished and I talk about doing a platelet donation. The extra link bonanza continues! Plus, as usual, I listened to, read and watched things.
This butterfly is gorgeous! GNU IMP is a fun program - there’s even an ascii converter in there somewhere, and the tiny-planet filter is fun.
Questions here:
You touched a surface this morning, what did its texture (give, grain…) say to you
Does the color of today need a word that isn’t a color
Is the nearest water to your feet behind glass, metal, pressure…
What are you protecting (what sounds are you hoping to not hear today)
What season are your feet in a month ago they aren’t in now
Would you believe your finger paints into existence the next thing it traces (rim, edge…)
Would you hold a five-minute window to another time open with me (which)
Look at something long enough for it to become strange (is a gaze a held breath)
What didn’t happen that still did something (what help did this invite)

Posted about my new analogue planner inspired by the aesthetics of my website:
wrote a post-mortem about the first year of good internet magazine:
An honest and helpful write up for anyone thinking of doing similar, thank you, but be kind to yourself: you created something really special.
I hope you’re able to receive some help moving forwards from those who have the skills. At the very least, I hope you’re able to find a rhythm that prioritises your well-being as much as the next issue. I’m looking forward to seeing Good Internet continue, whatever that looks like ![]()
thank you! very kind of you to say.
i hope so too!!
Please take plenty of rest!!! What you’ve done is incredibly impressive, but don’t sacrifice your well being for it!
It’s time for another tiara post! Read all about The Cockerel Diadem or, as I like to call it, The Mighty Coq.
