šŸ“ December 2025 Blogroll: Share your blog posts!

feels more like a … idk if i wanna say silly, i’m kinda just coping still with figuring out a virtual pet site i played is closing, and the … grief i think i feel. at least i think it’s that. it’s just kind of sad watching a community heartbroken, but sharing all their rare items w/others in the final sunsetting days. solidarity in loss i suppose

peep tv show was a highlight of the year for me! evergreen, completely insane, yet still sympathetic. (it’s available on youtube in 480p, which, imo, elevates the text)

i love your point on micro- and macro-experiences, and it’s a similar conclusion i came to this year! i enjoyed drawing individual illustrations when i was on social media because of the instant gratification & the fandom element, but since quitting, one-off artwork and fanart feels much less fulfilling. this year, i’ve felt the most artistically rewarded being able to ā€œreleaseā€ larger projects (namely games) that others can take time to consciously interact with, rather than passively scroll past (also, seeing others react to my own stories feels much more intimate & important than comments on fan works). investing illustrations into comics or zines would be a very smart way to macro-ify that work!

(also, i am so with you on your ire towards meme-trains and trends. ā€œsocmed slopā€ is such a great way to put it, lmao)

i hope you’re able to meet your goals next year! <3

I find myself so envious of your Mastodon experience. It took a while for it to happen, but the Creative Content Creator Grindset is enmeshed onto Bluesky now, and… yeah. It’s become hard for people to just let themselves be: just, people, on there.

Tangent: Yapping about Fedi

I find I can’t really find my humanoid, anime-esque artist tribe on Fedi. Made worse by the understandable fact that instances available to me have no choice but to defederate from instances where my fave Japanese artists congregate, due to the hosting of said instances failing to moderate against certain illegal material (since the country gives no reason for them to).

The lack of ability to make feeds with custom sorting also makes it hard for me to use Fedi. Though, the downside of that ability on Bluesky is that each feed literally runs on a server, somewhere, and can have downtime when its hosting server does.

Also I feel kinda culturally out of place as a person of color whose… interest in tech is only ā€œNecessity Deepā€, instead of inherent.

And so…

I find myself just wanting to wean off of microblogging across the board, but I’m glad you have your community on the Fediverse! From my light experience of it, the Grindset doesn’t seem to have reached it yet (despite it existing for so long! Even prior to Bluesky and AtProto!). There’s no incentive for the Grindset to be on the Fediverse. Bluesky certainly inherited its own Grindset from Twitter.

Hope you have a happy and creative 2026!

Regarding your tangent about Fedi, oof yeah I have noticed that and it’s quite unfortunate. I wish I could do something to make it a better experience for you but it’s well out of my control sadly.

That being said, I’m really glad you have a website! In my opinion that is far better than any sort of presence on social media.

As far as the grindset, I’m entirely certain that if Fedi users felt inclined to adopt a grindset culture it already would’ve happened now. Partly because Fedi has been around for years, but mainly because the lack of a ā€œpersonalizedā€ algorithm and a reduced amount of incentive to be ā€œas popular as possibleā€ kind of tames the possibility of a grindset culture.

I also hope you have a happy and creative 2026 as well!

My last post of the month (and the year)! As per usual, a look back at the blog posts I wrote and links I added to my bookmarks section, as well as some thoughts on the fiction I read (The Word for World is Forest by Ursula K. Le Guin and Eric by Terry Pratchett).
