cyberspace.online - 'social media de-imagined'

https://cyberspace.online/

I discovered this just today and I think it would really interest the community here. It’s a (mostly) text-only social media with IRC-like channels for chatting, it’s like an old-school BBS in format.

I’ve just started using it myself recently but I’m already enjoying it quite a bit.

From the website itself:

Social media de-imagined.

A quiet corner of the internet where you can think, write, read and connect. Like how the internet was supposed to be.

What’s the community like? One of the downsides seems that I can’t see any content without registering, and I’m not sure that I want to do that. It’s a neat idea, but I wish I could lurk some first.

I don’t know about you all but it’s taking way too long to load on my iPhone, which is a giant red flag for me this forum loads far faster than that website

Is there a formal Terms of Service or anything? The most I’ve found so far is the FAQ, which I happened to notice says this:

Can we edit entries, please?

Entries are immutable by design. They are meant to be permanent and unchangeable.

Yikes. No thanks.

might have something to do with the site being 11MB too lol

I don’t want to be negative or anything, but it’s hard to know what to make of this when nothing seems to be public. I appreciate the privacy of members-only places but it’s also important to let people know what to expect. For all I know, the posts on there could be spam ads or neo-Nazi stuff or other garbage. It’s all so vague!
