It seems like a weird case for crowdfunding to me but I’m wondering if I’m missing something.

Never heard of this person or anything about this project.
I’m surprised they don’t know about providers like these:
- Nearly Free Speech (USA)
- 1984 Hosting (Iceland)
- Mythic Beasts (UK)
- Leprd (USA?)
And I find it odd that he mentions supporting FTP, but not SFTP in 2026. SFTP is not only much safer, because it works over SSH, but if SFTP is available then rsync because a viable option for deployment.
