Hi all, I’m looking for a calendar software that can be used both on my PC (Windows) and my phone (iPhone). I’m trying to stay out of the Google/Microsoft/Apple ecosystems. I also prefer when things are software rather than web-native.
I tried using Tuta’s calendar, but found it clunky.
I currently use Notion Calendar, the app for my iphone and just as a webapp on Linux but there is a windows desktop app. I use Notion daily and databases to track projects, so I find it easy to use and sync to my notes. Unfortunately, it relies on either GCal or Apple Calendar (I use Apple). I would love to be free of the Google/Apple world too, I just haven’t found something great yet that has a UI I will interface with quickly on my phone. When I tried to use Tuta I ended up not adding things to my calendar because I found it hard to look at and use.
I’ve been using nextcloud! The calendar can sync with any app that accepts webDav, so I’ve found it very useful. I’ve got it synced with the acalendar app on my phone, a trmnl screen at home, and on the web too.
I use Nextcloud’s calendar (specifically The Good Cloud’s instance of Nextcloud) since it uses the CalDAV standard, which means I can sync my calendars across multiple devices with calendar apps that support CalDAV, such as Thunderbird’s calendar feature and my Android phone’s native calendar app. On Android, I also use DAVx⁵ to set up CalDAV syncing.
