Brave is not working well

For some reason, i’m having issues with brave where it doesn’t load the whole background on some sites and i don’t know why nor how to fix it. i do know it has to be brave cause this issue does not happen on DuckDuckGo. it may have something to do with the latest version or something.

does this also occour to you guys as well?

I’m so confused by this post. You said the issue is Brave and I assume you mean Brave browser. But then you said it doesn’t happen using DDG which is a search engine and I have no idea why a search engine should have anything to do with how a page on another site is rendered.

sorry for the confusion. yes, when i say brave, i mean brave browser.
and about DDG, you can download it as an app on desktop an mobile, thought i’m not sure if it would count as a browser now that i think about. the idea is that this doesn’t happen on other browsers. If you want a better example, google chrome doesn’t seem to have the same issues as brave browser

No, but I’m a lifelong Firefox user. I won’t even consider Brave for a variety of reasons.

i’ve been flip floping between web browsers for a while. before brave, i was using opera GX due to a lot of youtubers being sponsored by them but then i heard it’s kind of a spyware. i was thinking about firefox but also heard it’s not very good with privacy and now i’m using brave but now i’m not sure if stay with it or switch to a different one.

btw, when i was using opera GX, i wasn’t as worried about privacy as i am today, so that’s why i even considered using it in the first place

I’m personally a dual wielder running Firefox + Safari because Brave and Co are nothing more than reskinned Chrome.

I didn’t even know DDG had a browser version. I just checked and sure enough it’s just Chrome on desk (and obviously a webkit web view on mobile on iOS) so nothing new.

Usually when something odd happens on a webpage is because the various ad blockers are messing up the page aither by overblocking something or by removing some things.

That’s my guess for what’s probably happening on Brave that if i’m not mistaken has adblockers running by default.

I do not know where did you hear claims about Firefox not very good with privacy, but the only way I can think of where Firefox being “worse” than Brave for privacy is that you may want to change settings manually to enhance privacy when using Firefox, while Brave has built-in privacy feature that makes it easier for users who prefer to have privacy features out of the box.

I would recommend checking out Privacy Guide’s recommended Firefox configuration if you are really worried that Firefox’s default privacy feature and settings are not good enough. Note that even though Privacy Guides also lists Brave as a recommended browser, they also suggest additional manual configurations to improve privacy.

I have been using Firefox as my default browser for years, with a major reason for that being that it is not a reskinned Chrome, since many other browsers, including Brave, are based on Chromium, which Chrome is based on. i still use Chromum-based browsers occasionally, but I refuse to set any Chromum-based browser as my default browser.

Most likely, this would be caused by an extension. Try disabling them if you have any.

I don’t know how it will effect Brave, but Google is trying to destroy ad-blocking right now. It shouldn’t really have any impact on Brave, but who knows.

In light of the recent controversies around Chromium based browsers, I just hopped over to Firefox. Quite happy with it. Just add some extentions like Privacy Badger and uBlock Origin and you’re good to go.

DuckDuckGo has their own web browser and it bears the same name :). Unfortunately, there’s no Linux version, so I’ve never played with it, but it’s an interesting project all the same.

you were right, it was an extension i had that was causing issue, but it was flash player, which lets me play old flash games. that’s what was causing the issue.
thank you very much

The Ruffle Flash Emulator is also available on Firefox if you decide to switch browsers. :slightly_smiling_face:
