As a Malaysian, I can attest that news about human trafficking for scam operations in Southeast Asia have been sadly not uncommon here, since many Malaysians fell victim of the trafficking. It is horrifying indeed.

horrifying, fuck this world

OK, so let’s hunt down the people enslaving the scammers and give ā€˜em due process.

In my first year at uni I briefly worked for what turned out to be a scam operation (it was one of the first in my country so I didn’t really know what was going on, only that something was off - i got fired as soon as I started asking questions). What I can tell you is even when human trafficking isn’t involved, the person actually on the phone with you is barely paid anything and more often than not knows what they’re doing is wrong, they just have very few decent job opportunities. Those running the scam operation and making big money are exploiting both victims and employees, and are almost never going to be in direct contact with you.

I’m not defending scamming, I know it can ruin lives, but next time you get a scam call or email, just hang up or delete/block the address. 90% of the time you’re being contacted by someone who is at best trapped in a shitty financial situation by their ā€˜employer’ and at worst a victim of human trafficking. On the off-chance you’ll run into the asshole who both profits from and enjoys doing this, they’re not going to care about you cussing them out anyway.

This was a fun read! I enjoy the Nanos, even though they’re a little samey, but I’m not an Evangelion fan, so I’ve never picked that one up. I think the Pac-man and Jurassic Park nanos are my favorites. Glad you’re enjoying yours!

Thank you for reading! I’m glad you enjoyed my rambles. Apparently Bandai will be releasing new Jurassic Park nano shells soon in promotion of the new movie. They look pretty cool! I have been tempted to get one for a friend of mine who is a big dinosaur fan and has shown an interest in Tamagotchis while watching my spiral since last year haha.

My first post that I’m sharing here, it’s a personal reflection on Annie Mueler’s great post about creativity, what it means to people and how to conceptualize it so that it benefits you instead of harming you.

I really like how your cemetery page is coming along! Love the pixel art, and the locations themselves are beautiful.

I’ve been mostly keeping away from political talk on my blog because it doesn’t really fit with what I want my site aesthetic to be. But I’ve been wanting to share things and say things and finally decided I needed to at least post this and get it out. It might become a regular thing, might not.

Ponderings of the Political Sort

Great timing, I also have a political post to drop. It’s less specific regarding current political events, but still.

Earlier yequari asked a question in the chat. I started to answer, an it turned into a 500-word blog post. It’s about an old problem with GUIs, that still haunts computing: Nosy Cat Studios: Blog / Design Versus GUI

Not sure if you paraphrased a recent post of mine here or if I’m just being vain, but that was me speaking in anger. Spammers and scammers have always annoyed me.

Also, illegalism and ā€œpropaganda of the deedā€ have been part of anarchist thought (and occasionally practice) for over a century. It didn’t work out too well for the Bonnot Gang in 1910s Paris, for example.

I really like that post.
Maybe you could start a different site for the political stuff? A different domain, even?

I second this! I love cemeteries and that section is turning out beautifully.

I had no clue you made a post like that recently lol, this was prompted by a completely different community that I’m in. Could you link it, regardless?

I wrote a blog post about navigation and finding alternatives to google maps after switching phones: Alternatives to Google maps - some of it is city-specific though, and I imagine the situation is very different for people depending on cars and living somewhere remote
