Inspired by the “silly blog post questions,” I made a list of even sillier questions. Answer or don’t, I’m not your Internet mom!

I discovered the Indieweb and the blog carnival, so I had a go at writing a short piece for the march carnival, on self expression. It’s in my blog, ThisIsMyDay.

Rolled up a Classic Traveller RPG character the other night - an NPC. Wrote him up on my blog.

The Weekly Wrap Up is posted! Links this week are about outlaw nuns, the wine the French Foreign Legion produces and college campus radio stations. Also, the usual roundup of what I listened to, read and watched.

The Nun story reminded me of a similar (but bleaker) case I’m Australia.

The story goes that back in the day (that day being 1871), St Mary Mackillop took her coven of nuns to (figurative) war with the clergy after uncovering CSA amongst the bishops.

She won the battle in the end (which is why we call her Saint) but for a solid while there was a coven of Outlaw (and excommunicated) Nuns illegally running schools for poor kids against the Church’s demands.

Love these stories of nuns bucking the system!

I’m not religious at all, but I kinda think that one must have a LOT of conviction to (voluntarily) become a nun.

I find it very interesting, I assume there must be many more stories like this out there given the personality profile of the sort of person I would assume chooses to be a nun.

The history of the Church is full of nuns giving the metaphorical middle finger to the Vatican and proceeding to feed/clothe/house/educate/provide medical services to the worst off among them.

I’d be a nun if I didn’t also have to be Catholic.

tbh as someone who likes various kinds of cartoons, i dont think “not being” the target audience would be an issue for me. besides, i like minecraft. been playing it on and off since 1.2.5! (that version released in 2012, jesus)

but i dont want to watch it in cinemas because its dubbed rather than subbed. (certified dub hater here)

they called the overworld “gornji svet” (lit. upper world) and nether is translated as “vilajet” (lit. vilayet)

vilayet is ottoman word for province, but in serbian it can mean something among the lines “a world of eternal darkness and gloom”

i think i’d like the movie, but not if i watch it dubbed lol, so yeah, im passing for now.

I haven’t seen it yet, and I’m honestly kind of afraid to. I’ve heard that being older than the target demographic and really liking Minecraft can make it feel more hollow, so i’ve been kinda hesitant to watch it.

But like that being said when you do have a chance to watch it subbed I hope you do enjoy it!

I think you’re right about the conviction to be a nun leading to a conviction to do other things you believe in. There probably are other stories of bad ass nuns! Hmm… maybe this could be a future webpage idea. The other one that comes to mind is Megan Rice. When she was 82 she was arrested and imprisoned for illegally entering a nuclear weapons complex as part of a disarmament protest.

i speak pretty good english, so i dont think id even need subs, especially since its apparantly a childrens movie, id assume theyd avoid “complicated” words.

Been watching some great video guides, but they’re a pain to refer back to when you’re trying it out for yourself!

Made a few music-related posts recently, as well as one about the bliss of working from home…

Ok! First blog post in 20 years! About really fun topics like sobriety in hell! I’m fun at parties.

Most notably (to me) I have temporarily given up on getting my 11ty blog to work until I learn more and picked up a bear blog for the time being, linked from my neocities site. I think that’s fine as I learn more about how filters/collections/js in general works. I want to write and share things and I can do that without knowing how to code beyong CSS/HTML for now :3
