It is off because it’s still performative. It’s public and so there’s a sense of showing off or “look at me-ness” to it. But I still do it because when something I write gets a heart or whatever, it’s a reminder that I still exist and I like that.

Writing an email feels more true, which it is, which is also why it’s scary.

So when you write someone an email and they don’t write you back it’s like wow, they really didn’t find me interesting. Or worse.

Oh, let me tell you, if you really want to feel anachronistic, start sending out actual letters. It’s AWESOME.

Not only you get a physical artifact coming to you from some random part of the world but you also get to experience christmas every time a letter lands in your letterbox.

I have one conversation going right now where we sent maybe 6 letters total back and worth over maybe two years? Probably even more. I absolutely love it.

And i’m down to give out my address if people want to experience that joy again.

I liked the new LP’s album and finally have a full day off, so there you have it!

Neat! I also enjoyed the album, although I suspect my favorites are going to be less popular for most people (“Stained” and “Good Things Go”). Thanks for sharing your review!

And that’s a much more succinct, to the point phrasing than the one I went with!

Yours was compelling, though!

The Weekly Wrap Up has been posted! I learned how to host my fonts locally instead of having Google fetch them, I talk about Bluesky and give what I hope is some helpful advice on how to get good content if you’re new on there. I also watched some cool Nature PBS episodes, am still reading that last book in the series and am still in love with the Pixel Cat’s End game.

It took me a bit, but now I got my own SSG blog running instead of just having a bearblog going!

I enjoyed the read, stuck around for a bit, and found my way to natural.fm. Thank you for “Windy Rain and Thunder Sound”—I didn’t realize I needed this today.

I’d also suggest keeping a book or two in your bathroom if you’ve got a safe place to put them. Not that you should spend too much time sitting on the pot and reading, but a page or two while otherwise occupied won’t do any harm unless you’re a very slow reader.

I’ve been writing this for several days now during my off time, and I finally finished it. I didn’t realize I wrote so much, I wasn’t intending it to be a long post about my problems with Pinterest, but I guess it is what it is. Think of it as a last hurrah to a site I won’t ever use again.

Goodbye Pinterest

I posted some very brief thoughts about drive-in theaters.

I wish drive-ins were more common! Since the pandemic started, the only movie I’ve seen when it was released was at a drive-in. Alas, they don’t seem to be doing them anymore, so I guess I’ll have to stick with Blu-ray and streaming.
