best way to go about getting a domain name?

What methods would you guys reccomend to go about buying a domain name? I’m considering it so that my site isn’t locked down to only neocities

You just go to a registrar and get one. Porkbun is a good one.

I hear porkbun a lot but never have used it, I’ve been using Namecheap for a while and don’t have any complaints thus far.

I use Namecheap and also Namesilo. Both are good and often have offers.

I like Porkbun; I used to use Namecheap and had no issues with it, but the prices were a bit higher.

One tip I’d give is to pay attention the the renewal price of any domain you’re interested in, not just what you’ll pay initially. Often the first year has a discount, sometimes a considerable one, so there’s the risk of being stuck with something a lot more expensive than you expected.

I suggest Porkbun cuz now they have the offer like for first year charges are starting from less the 2 dollars and renewal is 10 dollars

I registered my new domain yesterday. I wanted something cheap and European (because of you know who), so I chose Netim from France.

I’d definitely echo the recommendation of Namecheap. I’ve used loads of registrars over the years and they’ve been very reliable and, as the name suggests, cheap!

i see a lot of recommendation of namecheap. id say spaceship is a better deal… they’re owned by the same people as namecheap but have (usually) better prices and the UI/UX is much better.

porkbun is really good, too! i liked it when i used it, they’re often cheaper than all the other registers but lack some domain extensions.

if you want something specific that’s not stuff like com, net, org look it up at https://tld-list.com/ this website compares prices based on first year, renewal and 3 year value, so you can make your decision easier
