I would love to make more recordings of my radio show accessible on my website. In the past I’ve used mixcloud and archive.org embeds. However mixcloud only gives you a certain amount of space, and I find uploading files to archive.org a bit clunky.
I want to create an archive of my past episodes. That means that I need to post a lot of fairly large files, and know that they’re going to be available long-term. This means that temporary file hosting doesn’t quite cut it.
I could get a paid neocities account and host audio files on my website directly…but I can’t justify the expense right now, even though €5 a month is a very reasonable hosting price.
So that’s where I’m at. How have other people approached hosting audio on their websites? Can you recommend a good host? Should I just suck it up and give neocities their five bucks?
$5 a month for Neocities Supporter is most likely the way to go. You’re going to get 50GB of storage.
What limits do Mixcloud give you? You also have the option of spinning up multiple Mixcloud accounts to take advantage of more storage that the extra accounts grant you.
I might be mixing Mixcloud up with Soundcloud (which I also tried out) but I think they restrict the number of files you can post if you’re a free user. The main benefit of Mixcloud is that they handle rights and royalties.
