Oh man, is this in rural Florida? My FIL was a rural north FL doc and his nurses would bring in cooked squirrel heads and other wild regional delicacies.
So sorry for your experience. I was mis-diagnosed and mis-medicated as a teen from what felt like guesswork and I think my brain is still recovering.
It was rural Mississippi.

I’m sorry this happened.
I had a similar experience to a much lesser degree with random unexplained IQ tests + a bullshit guesswork diagnosis done without talking to me at all.

I wasn’t accusing you of lying, sorry if it came across that way! I was just wondering if it was maybe a snippet of a short story or similar.
It sounds like an extremely unsettling experience and I can understand your confusion and how it would have made you feel worse. I’m happy with my current situation but I know what it’s like to try to find proper mental health care and feeling like it’s a wild goose chase full of negative experiences. The worst part is that the context makes it easy to dismiss because of the assumption that the patient is the unreasonable one.

haha good that u did! not saying this is this guy’s case, but my brother and mother have this issue where they sometimes have no idea how loud they are talking. and they just get progressively louder and louder… at a store once, my mum literally screamed my name to get my attention, and when i and like the entire aisle looked over at her she finally understood that she has no volume-comprehension lmao…
