Art blog themes / Starting a new theme on Blot

Hello! Kind of two topics I’d love to talk about in the one thread.

  1. Besides “Pictures big”, what draws you to a specific theme for an art themed blog? What are the specific quirks that you favour over another? What do you always implement when you’re spinning up your own theme?

I actually started a blog post that kind of lists off the things that I like in an art blog theme and helping me explore what I want as I write mine. Speaking of…

  1. I’m playing around with writing a theme for Blot!
While I’m loving Pika, it doesn’t have the customisability I want for something art focused.

I’m taking a prototyping approach by slapping something together in plain HTML/CSS only first, then de-constructing it into the various fragments and mustache template shortcodes.

How do you guys approach building themes? Something similar with prototypes or right into it?

Unique. Even chaos can be “organized.” What is the story you want to tell? How do you want to tell it? Scaling, etc. Self-coding starts with story boarding and then either possessing the knowledge to execute or learning. Or outsourcing

Just some good stuff I learned from Informatics at IUB, as well as learned to appreciate over the years. Hope it goes well for you! If you’re in love with something, you can figure out how to incorporate it to the level you want.
