April 2026 Website Updates: What did you do to your website today?

What’s going on, Internet? Sorry, I’ve been road-tripping and ran out of ready-made posts to automatically publish.

What did you do to your website today?

Did a major refactor to how posts are listed on the front page. Desktop is going to look different from mobile, and command line is going to look different from both.

Speaking of, I also did a major refactor to the UX via CLI. Posts are still going to have their own little quirks, but the general experience is a lot smoother and better formatted than it was before, and landing on pages that are mostly visual is now going to show you something else instead of broken elements.

Recently, I updated the user interface of my website’s search bar by using the new Pagefind Component UI.

I like how your your site is celebrating CSS Naked day! very unexpected

Finally learned how to install an autochange log into my website - and also learned a bit more about what the hell a changelog even IS an how to word it correctly - I also feel like I have some good next steps on how to make my updates page on my front page make more sense!

I thought it was going to take a lot longer than it did, but Moxie Moshpit is now running on Django! One more site to go and then I’m free of WordPress forever! :tada:

i added the thing where the site tells you its a characters birthday, again, after removing it for a while. and then i put the closing tags in the wrong place and the entire page ended up being italicized lol, but its fixed now!

made a list of my favorite browser games and used some new-to-me css trickery!

made two more colour themes for my website as i was debugging my website theme selector! decided on the names “meadow” and “nightlight” in keeping with the slightly too vague vibe-based names of the other two :pixelcat2:

The site’s new global font is JetBrains Mono (hosted locally, of course). I also played with the font sizes to make mobile legibility a little bit better.

After updating my graphics drivers my browser got very slow and I noticed a lot of difficulty on my site with the filters and animations. So now most of them are turned off by default and there’s a little toggle button to enable fancy graphics!

Made a boatload of updates today!

  • There are many new kitties in the Kitty Friends Pixel Club
  • New entry in the Godzilla Chronicles
  • New sites added to Linkware Websets
  • A dozen new entries on the Jokes page (all dad jokes, if that’s your jam)
  • 2 new links on the Cross Stitch page - an ever-evolving list of shops that use AI and a DMC thread color matcher
  • On the Cats page a cross stitch pattern link was removed because that shop is now using AI, a new shop with cute, non-AI patterns was added and HTTP Cats (cats as error codes) was added to the Fun section!
  • A page dedicated to Chinese Cigarette Packaging was added to the Fun Links page in the museums section
  • In the Library the reading log was updated, a new short story was added, and 2 items were added to the helpful sites section - links to a list of authors who sell on their own sites and a list of DRM-free bookshops
  • Some new buttons were added to the Buttons and Links page and behind the scenes I’m slowly going through the page and changing alt=“” to something descriptive and adding titles as well.
