What tech objects do you find aesthetically pleasing?

I forgot to mention Keracolor TVs. I first saw one at the Design Museum in London. Such delightful round space oddities they are.

I’m a big fan of the clear electronics already shown (particularly game consoles). Otherwise, I love the white minimalist look with pops of vivid colors. Teenage Engineering’s OP1 comes to mind.

Oh my gosh, they’re so round!

I love the emphasis on old tech in this thread. My favorite part about many 90s and 00s era computers and related accessories (ie mice) was the roundness, fun colors, and weird shaped. Design sensibilities now lean more sleek and minimalist. I think both styles have their places. Why not both? etc.

I’ll share some ‘new’ tech, though, but it’s still fun! This is my keyboard and the most beautiful electronic I own lol. It cost almost $200USD back in like 2020 or 2021. Worth every penny! Aside from just being super cute, it has Cherry MX red silent switches, and the case has a subtle wood texture that doesn’t really come out in photos. (Unless it needs cleaning lol ;) ). It’s also a full size keyboard which is something I really love! I routinely use the numpad and auxiliary keys.

The day I bought it, I was actually going to buy the Ducky x Varmilo Sakura which is basically the same keyboard, but it was only a 75% keyboard. I found the full size version literally 2 minutes after placing my order for the 75% version. Thankfully, they were able to cancel my order lol! The full size was really worth the extra chunk of change for me.

I love simple and clean it is, with the spacebar and esc key giving it a nice touch. I used to be obsessed with keycaps and keyboard customization before running into an obstacle which is MONEY. That aside, your keyboard looks so cute and I can only imagine how satisfying the sounds must be

I’m impressed with the MNT Reform laptop. It’s chonky, the way a computer should be (so you have room to work inside the case when you need to replace parts.)

I love how blogs look on my iPad Mini.

The Palm Tungsten E2 remains a favorite. Sorry, can’t easily take a picture right now.

I bought the teenage engineering ‘computer-1’ case for my computer because I saw it and loved it sooo much!! Picture from this blog.

I wonder if the handles are functional, or just for show. Could you use them to carry one of these to a LAN party, for example?

And I wonder if you could fit a Raspberry Pi 5 with all the trimmings into one of these…

That’s a cool bit of tech, though I’d try to hack it so it runs Emacs by default. :)

Well, it seems to be Linux, so I would expect that to be really easy.

IDK about how actually sturdy the handles are but I bet you could fit a whole raspberry pi in there!

It is a raspberry pi. I found out about it from the rasPi RSS news feed.

I do find them nice to look at but other ppl might find them more amusing: tech objects that r designed to look like sth else, like a computer mouse that looks like a hamster. I just love tacky things like that. An example of my own? Behold… my Ferrari flip phone.

The wheels can indeed spin, and also control the volume!

The Garfield phone is a classic example of this. Pieces of them still wash up on a beach in France after a shipping container full of them fell overboard in the 80s.

Seconding different keyboards, whether it’s stickers, other languages, different shapes and sizes, lights…
