The computer built to last 50 years

Computers made 10 years ago are largely sufficient for daily use today, despite modern software competing to see who can needlessly use the most RAM, so it surely is possible to design computers to last even longer than that. I find the author’s vision of computing in the future very interesting. Using open source software, off-the-shelf open hardware, and an offline-first approach creates the computer I want to use. Or more broadly, the world in which this is the dominant computing paradigm is the world I want to live in.
